Genuinely a good guy and excellent coach. He really represents Alabama well and though it sucks that Bama lost, if it had to be someone, im glad it was Dabo.

I almost agree, It doesnt hurt as bad as some of the others.
But no doubt, this is the biggest loss in Sabans tenure.

If we don't land Dabo after Saban retires I might melt.

Who could we get that's better and more experienced?

That depends on when Saban retires. If it is next year, Dabo has to be the top of the list but there's no guarantee he will be there if Saban goes on 4, 5, or even 10 years longer.

Further, if Saban does last another 5 years or longer at Bama and Dabo continues to succeed as he has for the last 6 he might not want the Bama job. He'll be their Bryant at that point.

It simply does no good to speculate when you don't know the date of Saban's departure. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Posted the same thing on the Rant in another thread. I don't see Nick retiring anytime soon thankfully as I would take Saban over Dabo all day. It would be extremely difficult for Dabo to walk away from Clemson at that point.

If Dabo does become our coach after Saban retires, does his National Titles for Alabama start at -1?

I've talked to people who know Dabo who say he would come, but its not a guarantee. That was another downside to losing that game last night. Him winning a title there sort of ties him down at Clemson. He's a part of their tradition now and IMO it will be really hard to get him to come if he continues to have success.

We would need to put on the full court press. He's a top 5 coach and would do really well at UA. The guy just beat Meyer and Saban back-to-back and has taken Clemson to another level. Anyone doubting him at this point is an idiot.

Would Clemson pay him over seven million per yr.? It's a win win situation, plus there's always a great coach out there. I have my eyes on PSU's OC.

Hate to say it, but we need Dabo after Saban. Dabo is the anti-Saban. With CNS, it's all business. With Dabo, it's all touchy-feely kumba-ya stuff. He puts some of the fun and emotion back in it. And he's a Bama man. It would be hard for any of the Bama blue bloods to oppose him. And he did all this at Clemson. What could he do with the Bama brand/resources?

I don't want Dabo either. He's a fricking clown and the ACC has only two good teams despite what the media is telling people. Louisville was trash. UNC was the 3rd best team and they aren't bad but certainly not elite.

Deshaun is dual threat, yet it seems Clemson has been recruiting pro style qbs after him.

There's not always a great coach out there and if there is, timing is not always favorable. Look at the hires some other great programs have settled for. You don't always get top shelf candidates.

Dabo would be great here and I think his personality and resume would make him a great option to replace Saban.

Respectfully disagree, it was auburn, but still no guarantee of making it to the title game. Our defense gave up the lead with 2 minutes left. In THE game.

Congrats to Dabo.. if we are to lose I would much rather it be a Bama guy.
