I've been keeping up since the Ennis Whatley, Bobby Lee Hurt, Buck Johnson early 80's days.
We've had so many teams capable of making a Final 4 run. Whatever reasons, it didn't happen.
The Nate Oats fast paced, style of play is the reason we finally made it.
No matter the outcome this coming Saturday night, very proud of my team.
Recruiting is gonna get even better with the Final 4 banner.

Was it Ennis Whatley that hit the game winner against Illinois in the tourney? That's probably the first game I have a memory of watching.

Born in 1970 and attended first Bama BB game in ‘78 but Buck Johnson is one of the first players I can remember . Watched or attended many a game since then… great feeling to FINALLY get to a Final Four!

Started following BAMA basketball during the days of Ennis Whatley, Buck Johnson, Bobby Lee Hurt and others. It only continued during my time at UA as a student with the likes of Robert Horry, Latrel Spreewell and Hollywood Robinson. I was there for the end of Wimp’s tenure and the beginning of the Hobbs error, not era. Enjoyed seeing Gottfried come back as a former player and take the team to new heights. Grant didn’t connect with HS coaches and that hurt recruiting but they played defense. Avery picked up recruiting but we struggled offensively and in late game moments. Oats just has that mixture that has picked things up in all areas. He has that connection to HS coaches, because he was in their shoes not too long ago, the style of offense is something kids love! Never been more proud of my school’s basketball program.

I was in Mark's Madness back in college. Those were some fun teams. Not great, but competitive. Lots of ups and downs since then.

Did George come back?

I don’t think so. When he was axed in the past, he came back as TripleDaves before SoG was reinstated

I’ve seen a lot of great Alabama basketball, and have been disappointed many times. I still remember kicking a hole in my student apartment when Bama lost in the sweet 16 in the late 80s (may have been 1990-91).

This was a long time coming.

Not gonna lie, I might have gotten a little dust in my eye as the seconds ticked off that game.

I definitely shed a few tears.

Cool story bro/no one cares but I’ll share anyway. My first trip to the Rec as a student, I got to play in a pickup game with Doc Martin and a couple of the walkons/bench guys. I was just proud I didn’t embarrass myself.

Another one of my fave basketball memories was Pettway making that last second shot to beat UF (which I mentioned already)

At the end of the night and after celebrating on the strip, we ended up at the Paty Hall diner. Pettway came in with his gf and the whole place just mobbed him. He was grinning ear to ear. It was a great night in Ttown.

Went to Bama Basketball Camp in 1992. Wimp was fired a week or two before and I was pretty devastated. Still had a blast though. Not as die hard as some but have always loved Bama Basketball and always thought there was no reason that the biggest brand in the SEC and arguably the biggest brand in college sports couldn’t have a top notch basketball program.

Really feel like we sold ourselves short for many years but so did the media and the rest of the country. Bama Basketball isn’t some bottom feeder. We have a very proud basketball tradition and arguably a top 3 program in the SEC historically. It just didn’t include deep tournament success. Thats changing now.

I was never this interested in Bama basketball until Avery came along when I was at Bama. The hype and support was unreal and made me a permanent fan.
