I can’t believe this. I have followed basketball since I was around 8. Bama has always been right on the cusp of greatness. I’ve never understood why we couldn’t breakthrough. I hope this is the glass ceiling shattering

The hoops thread is the entire reason I started frequenting this site and eventually made an account.
Best place on the internet for Alabama basketball IMHO. Thanks to you all.

Yep been waiting for this since I was pretending to be Jim Farmer hitting a buzzer beater in my driveway when I could barely get a ball to the 10 foot goal.

I was able to get the radio broadcast synced up with my TV and I can confirm that Chris Stewart was more excited than I’ve ever heard him. There was a point a couple of minutes after the game ended where he said to just let the mic that picks up the crowd noise run, because he needed a minute to gather himself.

Did George come back?
Also this is the peak fellas, Golden age of basketball. I remember us posting in the thread waiting for Gotfried to get fired.

Became a fan when Buck Johnson was at the Capstone. Has been a wild ride. Glad I got to see it. Excited about the future.

Been a Bama basketball fan since the Wimp days.....I am just so ecstatic and thankful we finally have a coach that keeps us in it consistently and has us playing at an elite level consistently.

The suffering makes this so much sweeter. Growing up in the Hobbs and Gottfried eras, enduring back end Gottfried and early Grant at UA, then paying grown up money to watch Avery. All worth it. What a feeling.
The fact we eliminated the only thing our rival could hold over our head is just icing on the cake.

Played against Brian Williams in middle school! (well we called it junior high). He and Rod Murray and Isaac Spencer were the best players i ever played with/against. Latter two guys both went to Murray State together.

C.M. Newton days for me. I used to watch PBS re-broadcasts of games. NIT finals that broke my heart.
It’s been a long ride and the last couple weeks have been surreal.

It's been a long time coming. I still remember skipping work as basically still a kid, and watching us in the tournament under Gottfried. There were a lot of hope and blue balls.
I didn't know at first, but eventually realized that Oats was different, and he was going to get us over the hump. I'm just still shocked it's finally happened. And sure as hell not how I expected.
And because it's happened so unexpectedly, right as were about to have our most talented recruiting class, I can't wait to see the impact it'll have on investment into the program. There's one thing Bama fans love and will support, it's a winner.

Hard to quantify the reason Alabama basketball has always been my first sport of choice, but for some reason Alabama basketball was more like my life than Alabama football. The occasional big high, but a lot of struggle in between and the feeling that some goals just might not be attainable no matter how good the prospects. I always thought that if Alabama basketball ever made a final four it would be one of the most exciting days of my life...
I can say without hesitation... IT WAS! Thanks to these players and coaches, made a 50 year old man kind of believe in dreaming again!

Been watching since the 70s, we had great teams back then, got a bad call vs. Indiana in 1976 or we beat them.

This season brings us to where we thought/hoped we could be under C. M and Wimp (maybe Gotfried). Been a fan a long time and Bama Basketball keeps getting better!

I’m one the older dudes here or it seems that way, lol. I don’t go back as far as some but one of my first memories was unranked Bama beating a top 5 Kentucky at Coleman in I think ‘81 or ‘82. The only player I remember is Mike Davis. My dad and soon-to be-wife went to the Bama-New Orleans NCAA tournament game in Birmingham in’87. They went to the Sweet Sixteen where Pitino, Donovan and Providence beat us.
I’ve watched a lot of Bama basketball. Didn’t think I’d live to see this day.
