No, they don't. Just because it's always been done a certain way, doesn't make it the best way to do it.
No one feels that way about the head coach. If you're changing head coaches, everyone wants him gone asap so you can get the new head coach in place before signing day. Shouldn't be any different for assistants. A great number of players care just as much about their position coach being settled before they sign as a head coach.
If they aren't good assistants or coordinators, let them go early and bring in someone better sooner than later. You gain the excitement of the better coach and helps with bowl practice leading into next season.

Glad to know that you're not the head coach of a football program.

In addition to the possible disruptions to recruiting, there are other problems with that line of thought. Most desirable replacements are involved in bowl preparations for their current teams. It would be crappy for them to leave their current teams immediately. That would be burning bridges for them, which most prefer not to do. Replacing a coordinator(s) prior to the end of the season just doesn't make sense. The coordinator(s) also wouldn't be familiar with our terminology, and not have time to get up to speed. It would just be more distractions to overcome.

It seems this thread will come to a happy conclusion at the point. Pete's assistance all seem to be jumping ship in preparation of Pete leaving.

The only defensive assistant I have seen leave so far has been Kelly, who got a promotion to DC at Colorado. Have there been more?

You need to get Nick to hire yourself.
I bet your neighbors try and avoid you.

To make it easy no one DC or OC is leaving until after the bowl game.

Until an new DC is introduced publicly Golding is the DC and will remain so. To many people supposedly in the know and to much speculation the reasons why but in the end many may be disappointed.

Maybe the dumbest take I’ve seen in a while.
Do you honestly think a new DC or OC would have a completely new system in place in 2 weeks? That’s insane, it takes months, minimum.
Plus, it would destroy the recruiting continuity to bring in a new coach right now. Some of you guys are just out of touch with reality.

Are you referring only to Bama's this season?
There have been plenty of OC and DCs that left or been hired away prior to a bowl game. We had one recently in the playoffs. Longo just left to go to Wisconsin. It happens all the time.

To be clear about one point, I wasn't suggesting that a new guy come in and establish a new system before a bowl game. That's kind of obvious. It was referring to the announcement of changes and allowing that process of change over to begin sooner than later.
This what we've come too?
Can't even have a discussion without stuff like this.

What question are you answering?
I assume, you're referring to the coordinaters not leaving until after the bowl.

Bob is 100 percent gone.
Golding isn't 100 percent gone.
