But I'm not on board with Bateman getting a break because "he's liked better", while McLeod doesn't because he's not. Neither did anything impressionable, and yet they are individualized in their performances.

That's not the reason, exactly. Neither did much, so why should the opinions we had of them before A-Day change? Most of us thought Cooper was better before A-Day, neither did anything to prove who is truly better.

And before we write off these guys, let's remember that they all should currently be in high school, have only had 20 or so practices in their college careers, and reps in each of those practices were split between 7 QBs with the majority going to AJ. Then we expect them to look like all stars in the 3 or 4 throws they get on A-day.

Why was Bateman liked before the game? It's rhetorical because I know it's due to ranking.

For me? What I saw out of them in High School, and McLeod is one ugly mother fricker. Those are my reasons, valid or not.

A lot of this. By next year we should have a full blown QB battle, and we'll be much happier with whoever wins it. I think right now it'll come down to Cooper vs Morris, but we shall see. If we do land Cornwell you still gotta wonder will he even play as a Freshman, no True Freshman QB has played here under Saban.

Mag, the answer to your question is this:

McLeod is a ginger, who most certainly does not have a soul, and most on this board would like to kill him with fire regardless of his QB abilities.

I saw the warm-ups yesterday and Morris and Cooper were a lot more accurate, McLeod can sling it he threw 4 or 5 that I counted over guys heads but to also be fair he seemed a lot less comfortable, seemed like that in the game as well

Alec Morris is a clear #2 QB,

Then we're in trouble. ... My guess is if AJ gets hurt look for So Sims to hand off a lot and bootleg a lot.

Then we'll be screwed if we have to rely on Sims to win a game throwing the ball. His two interceptions were butt ugly. 78,000 people knew the first one was going to be picked the moment it left his hand. A freshman EE you could understand, but as long as he's been in the program, a throw like that is inexcusable.

And McCarron had his share of ugly throws also. The stats say 2 INTs, but the reality is that he threw a third one that was also a pick-six that was called back because the defense was offsides. At least we know what McCarron can do, but at the same time I expect better from a QB of his caliber than what was basically three INTs including 2 pick-6s. Granted, Sunseri's INT was off a tip on a sideline pass and may not have been that bad of a throw.

On the plus side, it looked like he had plenty of time, and I don't remember him taking a sack.

Saban spoke in the WOC ceremony before the game about the difficulty of winning the NC twice in a row. Winning a third one is just exponentially even more difficult. We won't win a third one just because we have a lot of talent and the best coach in college football. We proved in 2010 that isn't enough. Saban's comments that this team is too comfortable is cause for concern. Let's just hope that the leadership void left by those departing gets filled. If it does, then we'll win it again.

McCarron threw 3 INTs in last year's A-Day game, so if that's any indication, then he'll only throw two this season. Don't forget that Saban likely told AJ to go crazy and force the secondary into tough situations, he wouldn't be doing that in real games.

AJ was sacked once, but the pressure was good and consistent. Looks like we have an elite pass rush, but the OL was good enough to hold it off.

Saban said he pretty much felt the same way at this stage with the last three title teams, I don't take his comments about the team "being too comfortable" as anything more than him doing the usual "I need to find a way to get the team to stay alert, so I'll say I'm disappointed in them whether I really am or not."

I agree about the OL; I think they will be outstanding. And with most INTs, you can also credit the defense with making good plays. INTs in the spring game usually bring mixed emotions. Sims' were just plain awful, though. I was excited about the play of the secondary, though.

As far as Saban's comments, when he says that not enough players brought enough intensity, enthusiasm, energy, and attention to detail. I take that exactly at face value. In 2011 and 2012 the team maintained focus and never got complacent. In 2010...by Saban and the players' own admissions...they did. One thing is for certain, IMO...the only team who can beat Alabama in 2013 is Alabama.

Yeah, but at this point in 2012 and 2011 Saban was saying the same things. What's great is we're probably still on the incline when it comes to the Dynasty, the more he sees of title winning teams the harder it'll be to please him, the more "I'm not pleased" comments he'll make, the more worrying people will do.

To an extent, you can push a team to hard and lose them. Not that I think that will happen though.

You guys need to back off of Ron Weasley. He looked pretty good in very limited work.

The two players that disappointed me the most were Denzel Duvall and Geno Smith. Denzel looked slow and stiff. I was very shocked to see ow often he got washed out of the play. Geno looked good inside, but was bad when forced to play outside.

On the good side, Landon Collins, HaHa, and Kirven really stuck out. LC should have had 3 picks in that game and had the Crimson WRs a little jumpy about going across the middle. HaHa did a very good job running the secondary and locking down CF. Kirven showed very good quickness and surprising strength. Also liked what I saw from Brandon Hill. Needs to keep working on conditioning, but showed very good power.

This team has a good core and a lot of good young talent, but it has a long way to go to be ready for A&M.

I couldn't see most of the game because McLeod's hair blinded me.

Here is a bit of a change in topic: I thought the field looked better than it ever has. Has something been changed?
