OHHH BOYYYY! lol I agree on this as well. He means well but I wish he would retire and they would bring in a simple color guy to go along with Danielson.

I don't know how anyone could hate Verne. He's such a loveable guy. Verne and Musberger are two of my favorites.

Not hate... just tired and annoyed with him. I am sure he is a nice man but his sayings and noises he makes has just gotten old. He can continue to be a nice loveable guy in retirement while they replace him with someone new.

I don't hate him. I just can't comprehend how CBS feels compelled to renew his contract and pay this man.

His ONLY job is to talk about college football for a few hours on ~12 Saturdays out of the year. Yet he cannot manage to understand that sometimes we have 2 players with the same number.

I remember him mixing up Barron and Maze in situations that were completely obvious which #4 was on the field. And there have been many more. I could understand the confusion if he were covering some obscure Eastern Wyoming team. But Barron was an all-American on a Top 5 team in the country.

Gary loves to preach against the teams that are "suppose" to win. I'm not a fan.

He is ok on the radio though.

Danielson brings up Cody taking off his helmet before the play was over.

See, those two statements are mutually incompatible. The smartest analyst in college football would have known that taking off the helmet there wasn't a live ball penalty. Nor would he have ever questioned if a missed FG off the upright could be returned.

He's easily my favorite college football commentator. He's extremely knowledgeable. Hell, some team needs to hire his arse just for play prediction. Seems like he knows every team's tendencies in certain situations.

Gary is good, but does have a bit of the northerner, "I need to show everyone how smart I am" in him. I do think he's one of the best in the game.

(Has anyone else noticed, though, when they cut to he and Verne in the booth this lizard lick thing he does with his tongue? Sometimes, when he's about to start speaking, he'll dart his tongue out real quickly. It bugs me for some reason. )

I don't mind Danielson as much as I used to. He will certainly get on my nerves tomorrow with his 10-12 repeats of "It takes a superstar effort from the QB to beat Alabama." Yes, Gary, we remember the USCe and Auburn games from 4 years ago.

I prefer Todd Blackledge and Brad Nessler over any other duo.

Best in the biz, imo.

I think GMac will be really good after a few yrs cutting his teeth. I used to hate Palmer, but he's fairly tolerable now.

Blackledge and Nessler are great. By far the best that ABC has.

Amen to that. Personally, I prefer Herbstreit over all of them...but then you have to listen to Musberger. Blackledge and Nessler are the best pair.
