Don't know. What I do know is that his reputation (what he has somewhat revamped) will be tainted once more should he bounce again to an NFL or assistant job.

He needs to stay around Saban a few more years and wait for a head coaching vacancy that would be a good fit.

Jumping at the wrong opportunity after a short stint could further damage what he's worked to re-build...jmo

It seems like the head honchos over at the circle-jerk that is Tidefans are convinced that Saban told Lane to find other employment mid-season.

They really do think highly of their self-appointed status as key insiders over there.

Personally, in the wake of Kirby getting a lofty gig, that he'll stick around for another year or two and see if he can leverage something better than he would be considered for now. It's not like he's making chump change. jmo.

I mean, maybe there was some validity to the rumors we heard about LK, but I doubt Tidefans have the inside scoop on the matter. They're probably going off of what finebaum has been saying to tell the truth.

This is what he should be trending toward. He would land a much better gig than just jumping the gun if in fact it is his decision.

I don't get all the LK hate. He's done a very good job with two very average QB's, and even turned Blake into a record setter.

The credit should go to Amari, not Kiffin.

That is true to a point. How many deep throws did Blake miss last year? How many has Coker missed this year? I think Riddley and Stewart have bailed Coker out way more than Amari did with Blake. No question that Amari turned a lot of short passes into huge gains.

Yes, Cooper was amazing. But someone had to scheme it up to get the ideal match-ups for him. Kiffen put in plays and formations where it was tough for Amari to be bracketed or double teamed. Gotta give Kiffen credit where it's due; he knows how to isolate and get the ball into the hands of playmakers.

Jake has missed on deep throws but he has put a few right on Stewart that were dropped.

Yeah it's been a two way street with those two.

I will go even further and ask: how many did McCarron and Mcelroy miss when they were here? Compared to Blake, A LOT.

Blake had a GREAT deep ball, which speaks of his talent, not Kiffin's coaching. I agree that Kiffin has done a great job of maximizing Blake and Jake's talents, but it annoys me when people act like Sims and Coker are chopped liver without Kiffin.

I'm not saying Blake wasn't better than Coker, but he might have benefited more from a single receiver being on his team than any quarterback I've ever watched.

Cooper 124 1727
White 40 504

I can't remember a discrepancy like that between the #1 and #2 receivers on any of the teams I've ever followed.

I agree, Blake did have a really nice deep ball. But he benefited from the fact that Amari was running wide-arse open like 75% of the time.
