I agree.

IMO the only reason that Del Rio would've left is he's pretty sure that Coker is a done deal and has probably got the job wrapped up.

The only thing I hope is that Saban can get Coker to stay for his 2 years he's got left.

I don't wanna be that guy, and I like LDR, but I'm kind of happy about this. Better chance for Coker, Cornwell, or Bateman to start. I just don't think LDR has the arm to make the most of the talent we have.

For the sake of argument, let's say Coker doesn't come here.

Sims
Bateman
Cornwell
Morris

What's the pecking order come August?

I say:
Bateman (experience mainly)
Sims
Cornwell (actual backup, RS)
Morris

I am kind of bummed by this news (even if Coker joins the Lord's side). While I do not think LDR was anything super-special I think he was probably better than just about anyone on campus.

If Coker does not join us, I would be shocked if anyone but Sims does not start the season. Unfortunately, I would then be surprised if Cornwell does not replace him at some point.

With Kiffin coming in, I really don't see Sims starting. Assuming Coker doesn't come, I would like to see what Bateman can do. I'm skeptical how ready Cornwell will be physically once the season starts, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Morris as the backup either.

I was totally on Team Bateman (really hoped he was our future) but if LDR beat him out I tend to think it's not in the cards (hope I am wrong - seems like a great kid).

I know I'm behind the times, and this might be common knowledge, but what is the story behind Del Rio and Kiffen?

Also sad to see the kid go.

He beat him out as a freshman. Lets not give up on the kid after his freshman year.

I liked del rio, but if Coach had wanted him to stay, he would still be here.
