I think the advantage goes to Cook. Obviously, MSU will put the pressure on Coker to win the game - this makes me more than a little nervous.

Cook has big time potential and can throw the intermediate and deep ball well. If our secondary locates the ball and plays hawkish we will win.

I think Coker will do enough to keep the MSU honest. Bama wins.

I feel better. Thanks for listening.

LIke every game since the Ole Miss game. If we don't turn the ball over and give them situational first downs with stupid penalties, we'll win.

They only allow 113 on the ground and every team they played except Iowa had a 1000 yd rusher. They only avg. 5 penalties a game and have only given up 14 sacks.

They can be passed on though and our run D will make them even more one dimensional than they already are. If the secondary can hold coverage and not get beat too many times our DL is finna eat.

I doubt Michigan St will be the first team we've played this year with the idea of making Coker beat them.

I imagine we will hit the edges pretty hard early in the game. Jet sweeps and quick WR screens on the sidelines will widen the linebackers and open up the middle.

If the O-line can handle the MSU pass rush, we will be in really good shape.

Cook is a plus player for MSU with the caveat being that he has to be healthy or else he is actually a major liability for them.

Simply put, without a vertical threat their offense doesn't have a shot. If they trot out Cook and he looks like he did against Iowa I don't see how they have a chance to win without a huge advantage in either turnovers or special teams. The reason that game was close is because he is too good to bench, but was too limited that day to go down field with his separated shoulder so Iowa just run blitzed their safeties and dared them to throw (he couldn't).

That said, if he is healthy and their banged up line can keep him clean (big if) he is absolutely the best QB we will have seen all year and they are capable of beating us.

MSU is very weak at CB outside this year, there will be some shots for Coker available. Several inferior teams got seperation, they don't track well, letting the WRs pull away...

Which is a far cry from their normal secondaries with at least 1 lockdown guy like Dennard or Waynes. They are a modicum better than Auburn in the NCAA rankings in the low 70s.

They do handle dual threats pretty well, so the miracle Coker scrambles may be harder to come by. But big arms have gotten past them, Rutgers and Nebraska had some huge plays off to make them games.

I just don't want him to go "all-garcia" on us. Our guys have put pressure on him, hit him hard and often. Also, our db's have to look for the ball.

Don't understand the Cook talk. His stats are better than Coker, but it's not miles better. Dak, Brandon Allen and Kelly had better numbers (Allen and Kelly miles better). Dak and Allen had QB rating's of 103 and 107 against Alabama, and Kelly had the lone standout of 171 (113 if the fluke ends up incomplete and ineligible receiver downfield were called).

Is all the talk based on NFL and it's "measurables"? Being 2" taller than Dak, Allen or Kelly make him superior?

Not one single NFL scout would agree with you.

When you see Cook going in the mid rounds, you'll see they didn't agree with you either.

Sub 60% passers just don't become better, especially when the talent is lightyears ahead in the NFL.
