You know, I know he was an orphan and all that story blah blah blah and now he's living the dream as a kicker at Alabama...whatever.

Dude is by far the WORST college kicker I have ever seen in my life. It's like he learned how to kick in pressure situations from mid-90's Florida State kickers. The only place I feel remotely confident about is kicking from the five. It's just amazing that after Leigh Tiffin's arse left, Nick has just bombed on every kicker he's recruited. One was a half linebacker and this one is a former drug addict criminal.

I hope this kicker he has committed right now is the truth. He's supposed to be the best kicker that has come out of high school in a long time. I just find it amazing that a team like Auburn or Texas A&M or Georgia can get these kickers that have been kicking 50 yarders since they were abusing their mothers' womb.

Fire Bobby Williams and hire someone who is actually worth a shite.

At this point, I am no longer blaming the kid because he is clearly not capable. I am blaming the coaching staff for continuing to put him in these situations.

I know this will not happen, but I would like to see us only attempt a FG if the kick is <40 yards. If we are between the 23 and 40, then go for it on 4th down. If we are past the 40, then punt it.

For the life of me, I can't believe he made the chip shot against LSU to tie the game. That was some higher power at work there. But I am going to stay optimistic that he'll get it together. Until he loses a game for us.

He is certainly struggling, but this is just plain wrong unless you're too young to remember Cade Foster.

In his entire Bama career, Foster NEVER made a kick that mattered. I've posted the stat many times, but in the games he kicked that Bama lost or won by less that a TD he was IIRC 2/11. If he never makes another FG, Griffith's kick to send the LSU game to OT ensured his career will exceed Cade's.

I think he can be a decent kicker, but EVERY time he lines a kick up, I SCREAM at the tv "YOU'RE POINTED THE WRONG WAY" and sure as shite... it goes in the direction that he is lined up!

Nah, you only have to go back to Griffith's immediate predecessor to find a worse one.

This is definitely puzzling. Griffith was the number 1 rated kicker coming out of HS, so it looked like a great pick up.

Cade Foster was the 11th rated kicker coming out of HS.

Alabama gets highly recruited kickers that fall apart. Other teams get walk-ons that are awesome. It's baffling.

Bad coaching? Too much pressure at Bama? Just horrible luck?

Chris Kemp was the worst I've seen at Bama. Hoooooly sheeit, I lost years off my life watching those Dubose Bama teams.

He is what we've got right now. I can't bring myself to get mad at the kid, he is living the dream. 99.999% of the kids that grew up in his previous situation would still be a drug addict and alcoholic.

I agree that we've had terrible luck with our PKs over the last five or six years, BUT...

Saban has made some bad decisions in the few games we've lost, notably Kick Six and TGOTC in 2011. By that, I mean going for it on fourth down in what should be a fairly makeable FG yardage-wise, and trying FGs from distances that are impossible for our kickers to make.

We should have had a two score lead against AU late in the game in '13 (when we went for it and didn't convert, should have attempted the FG instead), and should never have attempted the long one at the end.

Of course, hindsight is easy.

Probably should have used could instead of should.

I felt a lot more comfortable with Cade Foster kicking the ball than Griffith. At least he could contribute with good tackling. Griffith has one job and he does it horribly.

I disagree, the FG for the win was a smart decision with no time left. I've honestly never witnessed a short field goal run all the way back until that day so the odds were in our favor. Miss it, head to overtime, make it, party like it's 1985.

It wasn't a short FG, though.

I was looking up Leigh Tiffins stats and I didn't realize in 2009 he was 30/35 on field goals. That is insane.

That's just silly. Any situation with even the slightest amount of pressure and Cade would kick some of the ugliest kicks you've ever seen. The one against Auburn after Kouandjio jumped false start on his first attempt was probably the worst field goal attempt I've ever seen.

You're right that Griffith has been absolutely terrible recently, but he's better than Foster. Last year he started out red hot and midway through the season something changed and he hasn't been the same since. You're also right to be mad about this, because special tams have plagued this team for quite some time and it's really bewildering that it has not only not been addressed, players like JK Scott and Griffith actually seem to be regressing after a period of time at Bama. Remember after the Kick Six when Saban said Griffith routinely hit kicks from 60+ in practice?

Still, if you remember Ryan Pflugner in '99 or Brian Bostick in '03 you know that it could be worse. At least Griffith is making almost every extra point.

At 57 yards, it would have tied Van Tiffin's record for the longest field goal in Alabama history had it been good.

From the kicks I recall from the last couple of years, seems to me he pretty much kicks it high, long, and straight...problem is whenever he's on either hash, he still kicks it straight which is not good. I feel comfortable with him kicking when the ball's lined up in the middle of the field...but more than often, it's not. I like that he gets it so high 'cause it's hard to block...and he usually hits the ball pretty solid...just wish he had some control on direction, particularly when the ball's on the hashes...

Last year, he started off great and then struggled...maybe this year will be the opposite...don't think we have a better option right now though...

I meant the kick being short. ie a "short field goal kick" should have rephrased.

Hey, why are we torturing ourselves? Remember Tiffin? Remember Shelley? Remember, Clutch "Christensen?"
