How dare you stand up in public and tell the world that you are pissed off at the fans. As someone that was there to watch the Bear win 100+ games in 10 years I can say that he would have NEVER insulted the fans of Bama in such a way. You sir are probably as good or even better as a coach than the Bear was. But the Bear had CLASS.

When Bama won a game he would give all the credit to the players. When Bama lost HE TOOK ALL THE BLAME! Saying things such as: "I didn't prepare them as well as I should have."

He never ever criticized the fans. That's why he was loved by all. But we knew when the team was playing as well as they could or not.

Look at the A&M game compared to the Ol' Miss and Ark games. Where were the penalties? Where were the dropped passes? Where were the quarter back sacks? Common! The offense played like 4 & 5 star players against A&M. Like a Jr. High team in the previous 2 games. Even you were yelling when C Jones made that bone head play on the punt return. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Coach I think maybe you are under a large misconception. Namely: We are not there because you are there, you are there because we are there. Let me explain:

Who do you think built Bryant-Denny Stadium? We the fans built that stadium. ALL of the money came out of our pockets. Where do you think your salary and that of your coaches comes from? We the fans. Who do you think pays for the ALL the scholarships for the team? We do, the fans. All of your equipment came out of our pockets. Who pays hundreds and even thousands of dollars for the tickets. We burn 10's of thousands gallons of gas going to from the games. For crying out loud we pay $4.50 for a cotton pick'en bottle of water. Who do you think buys all the hats, t-shirts, flags, pompoms, jackets, jerseys, and countless other junk? Who do you think buys the products advertised on TV so the University gets those lucrative TV contracts. We the fans that's who.

Who do you think braves rain, snow, sleet, tornadoes, and 105 temperatures (at $4.50 for a bottle of water) just to celebrate when OUR team wins. The team REPRESENTS THE UNIVERSITY. It's not the other way around.

Do you really think that if the stands were empty every Saturday that there would even be a team? Do you even think there would be a stadium to play in?
So when I pay hundreds of dollars to cheer the Tide on and am faced with watching a game where the players appear to be so enamored with their press clippings or day dreaming about their lucrative NFL contracts to do their best on the field I'M GONNA EXPRESS MY DISPLEASURE!

So why is it that you expect us to cheer when the team does good but sit in pained silence when they are flopping around on the field like a fish out of water?

So if this pisses you off again then I guess I'll just have to live with that. I am, though, sure of one thing. There were probably many times when Coach Bryant got pissed off over the years. But he never said so.

Didn't read it all, but I'll say this.

Saban wasn't really criticizing the fans. The attitude we have is the same one he has. Never satisfied. Always can get better. He was just trying to create an "us against the world" mentality for the players, and it worked.

I'm sure Saban is reading this right now. The REC is gonna find you and cause you to have a "little accident".

Absolutely, fantastically horrible post. Just garbage. I don't disagree with every word, but the overall thought is just 5-star horse manure.

You obviously missed the point Saban was trying to make. He wasn't speaking to us when he went on that rant. He was speaking to his players through the media. And you know what? It worked.

Tell you what, cuz. When you figure out how to extrapolate the internet age to the 1970s and determine how Bryant would have dealt with it, get back to us, OK?

Exactly. How many times have you seen him go ballistic on a kid who messed up during a blow out win. A coachable moment. Then see him bite his tongue after yet another special teams turnover during a dogfight with Arky, and walk over and try to calm the players as they come off the field. There is always method to his madness.

I get the feeling that this was written sometime during the past week and then saved for after the inevitable loss to Texas A&M. It would have really hit home if Bama had come out flat again Saturday.

Unfortunately for OP, this doesn't make a lot of sense now.

You're full of shite. Coach Bryant told the fans once on his show that he didn't care if one fan showed up to watch the game, they would play anyway.

He isn't the only one that missed that point. Go look at the multiple page thread we had discussing this topic.

After the good results, now all of a sudden everybody understood and supported the action.

I don't always agree or like Saban's methods but I was one who agreed with him about the 14-13 Arkansas win.. I didn't think the sky was falling and knew everything was correctable... With that said, I think some of you Saban worshipers give him too much credit.. I don't think he was trying to create this us "against the world" mentality with his players, I think he was genuinely pissed off. I mean if the questions wasn't asked about his frustration, I don't think he would have gone on that rant...

I respect the hell out of the man. His methods work, he's one of the All-Time great coaches.. I like his results but don't always like his MO(ie. the way he sometimes deals with the fans and press).. With that said, some of you worship him like he can do no wrong and I would bet the farm that it's the people who voted down the OP and will be voting me down...
