Didn't Dwight have 2 sacks last year on A-Day? Is he worse than O.J. Smith?

I don't think he did. OJS can give us short yardage reps. I hope Dwight surprises us if he's still here in the Spring, but based on what a whole lot of people have been saying, that's not likely. Might be a decent athlete, but not a football player (to this point, anyway).

Does Rivals or any of the recruiting services still do the Units rankings where they rank all the teams recruiting by position units. QBs, WRs, LBs etc etc??

DeVonta Smith, what decided him on Alabama instead of LSU
quote:

Smith said he ultimately decided on Alabama on Tuesday night.

“Alabama separated themselves with a lot of the things that they were doing,” Smith told SEC Country after his commitment. “It was … if I didn’t have football, where would I want to go to get my education.”

The education aspect is so BS when recruits say that. They just know it is what people want to hear

If recruits went places for education, Vandy/Duke/Stanford would be dominant football programs

It could also be resources for academics or allowing them to pursue their desired major. An example of this is when Michigan wouldn't allow Hand to be an engineering major and tried to convince him to be a sports management major instead.

Can you grant access to anyone else to modify posts like the offer posts in case I can't get to it for a few days?

I check. Don't think so though.

Also, keep this one until this weekend. It may take me a couple days to put everything together because I'm going skiing all day tomorrow.

Will do. Don't die.

Regarding the 85/25 Scholly rule...I'm gonna step out on a limb a little here, it's sort of a personal opinion/diatribe I have about it.....

I believe there needs to be an easier structure to keep track of for NCAA Schools regarding football programs. Set the class limit at 25, but the team limit to 100 instead of 85 since 4 X 25 = 100, then regarding back counting and extra schollys, if there is an extra spot to get to that 100 or if you only took 23 or 24 kids the year before, you have some extra schollys to give, that way it's easy math.

The NCAA cares so much forthese kid's futures that they want a whole lot less of them to get scholarships and educational opportunities. Oh the mysteries of life.

The Farrell Awards are always popular, or unpopular, depending on which team and prospects you like. But love them or hate them, they are a must following Signing Day.

So wearing my best tux, here is the hardware from the biggest day of the year, the Oscars of recruiting.

ANNUAL SABAN STEAL

It has basically become an annual tradition for Saban to go into Louisiana to grab a top-level talent away from LSU on Signing Day. This year that top-level talent is Smith, who has favored the Crimson Tide for quite some time while also taking long, hard looks at both LSU and Florida State.

FITS LIKE A GLOVE

Alabama loves versatile players, and Ray could play inside or outside or both during his career. Like Da’Shawn Hand, he’s a big, athletic kid who has shown the ability to handle work inside and outside and be an effective pass rusher up the middle or with speed to the outside.

ROUGH DAY

Parks showed up at his press conference and was in tears because none of his favorites had room to take him. He eventually landed at Alabama as a gray shirt. which is crazy for a Rivals100 prospect. Not the day he expected.

EMBARRASSMENT OF RICHES - ALABAMA

Alabama already had the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the eighth time in 10 years, and adding players like LaBryan Ray, Devonta Smith and Henry Ruggs is almost unfair.

The NCAA uses "parity" as the excuse for scholarship limitations.

Recruiting, at its core, is about projections. And with National Signing Day 2017 in the books, Rivals.com makes a few final ones on what the future may hold for members of this class. Below is look at who might be next up in a number of traditional college football storylines.

Who's the next Heisman Trophy contending running back?

There are two schools of thought here. Najee Harris is the No. 1 player in the Rivals100 and has incredible physical tools. He signed with Alabama and seems poised to become a star. On the other side of the coin sits Cam Akers, a Florida State signee that will play in the same offense that produced the electric Dalvin Cook. Both Akers and Harris have college-ready bodies, and the internal debate over which player would be ranked higher was fierce. The respective depth charts may help dictate which player shines brightest, but one of them contending for a Heisman Trophy is a good poin

Who's the next big-name quarterback to transfer?

There are options here as well. Alabama welcomes in two highly-regarded quarterbacks in Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones. History suggests that one of the two won’t finish his career in Tuscaloosa. Another interesting candidate for a mid-career transfer is Clemson commit Hunter Johnson. A talented prospect, Johnson will be followed by 2018 QB Trevor Lawrence, the top-ranked prospect in his class. Lawrence is seen as the type of player that can come and start for the Tigers from day one, so Johnson will have his work cut out for him if he hopes to win and retain a starting spot down the road.

Alabama: Anyone else surprised that Alabama kept LaBryan Ray and Henry Ruggs home and stole Devonta Smith from Louisiana? Smith makes it six players from the state of Louisiana in this 2017 class for Alabama. That’s impressive.
