I find that narrative pretty funny, since those guys saw at max 2 IMG games this season, and I really think only one, the opener against Grayson, was televised.
But here they are, talking about how he didn't pop out at IMG

WILL ALABAMA'S BEST BE A STAR?
The last time a No. 1 player from the state of Alabama went onto to be the top pick in the NFL draft was in 2015, when former 2012 state of Alabama No. 1 player Jameis Winston was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This year, Alabama’s top player is LaBryan Ray, who has yet to announce his college decision. Ray’s finalists include Florida, Tennessee and Alabama. If he were to leave the state for the Gators or Vols, he would be the first Alabama No. 1 overall player to leave the state since Winston and just the third all time in the Rivals.com era. In 2003, both the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the state, Chad Jackson (Florida) and Jayson Swain (Tennessee), both left Alabama for bordering states.

RUNNING BACKS RULE THE DAY
It’s a great year for running backs in 2017. Players at the position hold the top spots in California (Alabama commit Najee Harris), Mississippi (Florida State commit Cam Akers), Massachusetts (Boston College commit A.J. Dillon) and Virginia (Florida State commit Khalan Laborn). Three of the four prospects are ranked as five-stars, with Dillon ranked as a four-star prospect.

National Signing Day is less than two weeks away and there are a number of compelling storylines to follow as teams jockey for position in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

The race for No. 1
Alabama held a huge lead in the team rankings in early December when the rankings were updated last. Now Ohio State has closed the gap to just over 200 points, which is essentially one or two commitments. Keeping in mind only the top 20 commitments in each class count towards the team ranking, the Buckeyes would need to land a few more of their top targets to usurp the Tide. Five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, Rivals100 defensive tackle Jay Tufele, Rivals250 wide receiver James Robinson and three-star Thayer Munford are still possibilities, but it would take a combination of these four to overtake Alabama.
Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide are in good position with a few more highly rated players. Rivals100 defensive lineman LaBryan Ray is considered an Alabama lean and Rivals100 wide receiver DeVonta Smith has a good chance of selecting Alabama on Signing Day. Five-star defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon is trying decide between Alabama and Michigan.
Georgia has pushed up the rankings and is currently sitting in third place. It will be hard for the Bulldogs to get into the top two because they already have 23 commitments.

National Signing Day Flashback: Reuben Foster - 2013
quote:
The Schools: Auburn, Alabama
How it all went down: Reuben Foster’s recruitment was so filled with drama that when Signing Day came in 2013, many expected another twist.
Foster had already flipped from Alabama to Auburn once during the process, and during his time as a Tigers commit he got a large tattoo of the Auburn logo to commemorate the occasion. Following his junior year of high school at Troup County in Georgia, Foster even moved across the state line to attend Auburn High School, a move that only seemed to further solidify his position with the Tigers.
However, head coach Gene Chizik was fired in the fall of 2012, leading to Foster’s eventual decommitment. He took an official visit to Auburn the weekend before Signing Day, only to leave a day early and unofficially visit Alabama just four days until he had to sign his Letter of Intent. A day after visiting Tuscaloosa, Foster announced his intentions to sign with Alabama, but with two days before Signing Day many in Auburn, including the Tigers' coaching staff, held out hopes that things might change during a press conference at his high school when he would actually put pen to paper.
Foster dispelled those notions by coming out in a Nick Saban-themed Alabama outfit, officially signing with Tide and wrapping up a recruitment that will be remembered for years to come.
Local memories: "I certainly didn't expect Foster to back away from his commitment to the Tigers after he put ink on his forearm with the Auburn logo. The door opened when Chizik was fired and Trooper Taylor was not retained by new coach Gus Malzahn. I was at the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Classic and it was the final year where coaches could attend. I saw the interaction between Foster and Kirby Smart. I knew Bama had a chance based on their relationship. He took his official visit to Alabama and after some other visits traveled to Auburn the final weekend before Signing Day. When he left Auburn during the visit to return to Tuscaloosa, I knew it was over and Bama would sign the five-star linebacker." – Andrew Bone, TideSports.com
National reaction: Foster’s flip, combined with his tattoo, garnered so much media attention that even President Obama mentioned it when congratulating Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome after the Ravens won the Super Bowl. After discussing the game, Obama then talked Alabama football with the Crimson Tide alum.
"You guys just got another draft pick down there. A guy who already tattooed Auburn on his arm and then decided to go to Alabama instead,” Obama said.

According to Kohl's Professional Kicking website (I'm assuming this is the main competition to Chris Sailor?) the state of Alabama has the top two kickers in the country for the Class of 2018.

Kohl's Evaluation on McPherson:
quote:
Mcpherson was dominant at the 2016 Southern Winter Showcase as well as the 2017 Underclassman Challenge. He has established himself currently as the best kicker in the 2018 class. His confidence in his ability to crush field goals is impressive. Ball striking is repeatable, it explodes off his foot and his ability to call on his "A" ball is D1 ready right now. He showed one of the premier kickoff legs in the 2018 class by winning the Kickoff competition at the 2017 Underclassman as well. He is currently ahead of the entire 2018 field in his ability to lock in and hit the same ball rep after rep . He is a high level punter as well, but his upside as the nations best kicker is tough to match at this point. McPherson has continued to prove throughout his career that he can make field goals. He will be a highly sought after recruit in the 2018 class. His field goals during the 2016 national Scholarship Camp were very impressive going 27 out of a possible 29 during the charting portions.

Pickering recently attended the 2017 Underclassman Challenge. He once again showed dominance in his Field goals. He is a smooth field goal kicker who hits clean rotation and has great command of his ball flight. Focus this winter and spring will be on his leg strength and hang time on KO's but he showed well at the nations premier gathering of talent. His elite coordination allows him to shows flashes of great punting ability as well.

Assuming Alabama isn't able to secure a future kicker in the 2017 class, both punter and kicker become vital in the 2018 class.
JK Scott will be a senior this fall. As will Andy Pappanastos. At least we have the long snapper of the future already on campus.
