247 is supposed to do maintenance on their website at midnight CST, but their site is offline now.

Damn. Hopefully this means we are pulling someone else in.

Benton no longer visiting UGA. He is having surgery on his knee and shoulder Friday instead. He is still planning to be at Alabama next Friday. His dad says he thinks he is 100% committed.
All of this per BOL.

Hank thinks Kinlaw not visiting probably has to do with us feeling comfortable in where we are at with Solomon, Ray, and Mathis.

We are only hosting Chris Henderson this weekend for OVs. Allen has moved his OV to next weekend.

Good. The closer to Signing Day that Allen visits, the better.

Another DB to keep an eye on as Signing Day gets closer is Montaric Brown from Ark. that we lead for at one point before we originally passed on. Hearing he had a really good senior year sort of like McKinney. Sounds like Oklahoma and Ohio State are going to bring him in for a visit as well.

AL.com | Alabama commit Markail Benton not visiting SEC East school this weekend
quote:
Markail Benton, the longtime Alabama linebacker commit, will not visit Georgia this weekend as originally planned.
Benton tweeted that he is having surgery on Friday, and Central-Phenix City head coach Jamey DuBose confirmed that he won't make the trip. The 6-foot-2, 237-pound Benton is the nation's No. 97 overall recruit.
He is scheduled to officially visit Alabama on the weekend of Jan. 20 and has not taken any other visits.
Benton is having surgery to fix knee and shoulder issues. Those injuries prevented him from playing in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game, but he did start in the Under Armour All-America game alongside Alabama linebacker commit Dylan Moses and recorded five tackles.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban was at Central today, DuBose said. Benton and junior receiver Justyn Ross are two of the nation's top prospects.

Saban shut that down real quick

Here's Najee Harris working out at Alabama today.
I wonder if Michigan fans think this is photoshopped. (stole that line from Twitter)

I was 95% sure Najee was going to flip to Michigan.

Me too. What a strange recruitment.

Justin Wilcox will probably look at Lupoi for DC. Would Cal actually want him back after his past "shenanigans"

Not sure they'd want to garner that kind of attention from tNCAA so early in Wilcox's career.

Didn't Lupoi burn a bunch of bridges at Cal when he left?

I had this random thought: I wonder if we would've won the title if we had Eddie Pineiro. We gave the ball to Clemson around the 40 instead of the 25 on that last drive.
Pineiro can EABOD.

Top 7 uncommitted players in SEC recruiting: Marvin Wilson, Aubrey Solomon top list
Randy Capps. | SEC Country
Randy Capps. | SEC Country
quote:
With three weeks left before Feb. 1’s National Signing Day, SEC schools are chasing some of the biggest names left on the board.
Here are the top seven uncommitted recruits still considering SEC schools:
(All rankings are from 247Sports, unless otherwise noted)
7. Jarez Parks
Position: DE
Hometown: Sebastian, Fla.
Ranking: 4-star
Outlook: The race to land Parks is heating up, and he says that his mother’s comfort is a top priority in his decision. He’s heading to Florida for a visit this weekend and will check out Auburn on Jan. 20.
The 247Sports crystal ball has Alabama as the front-runner at 69 percent, with Florida coming in at 31. Florida State and North Carolina are in the mix as well.
6. Jeff Thomas
Position: WR
Hometown: East St. Louis, Ill.
Ranking: 4-star
Outlook: Missouri chased Thomas hard earlier in the cycle, but the Tigers seem to have fallen by the wayside. Illinois and Miami (Fla.) are believed to be the co-favorites for the wide receiver, who had a breakout performance in the Under Armour All-America Game. Thomas still has an official visit planned to Tennessee on Jan. 27.
5. Devonta Smith
Position: WR
Hometown: Amite, La.
Ranking: 4-star
Outlook: After a strong showing at the Army All-American Bowl, Smith narrowed his choices to Alabama, LSU and Miami. He’s taking a visit to each of those schools and expects to make a decision afterwards.
He was committed to Georgia under then-coach Mark Richt, who now coaches at Miami. The 247Sports crystal ball is unconcerned, giving Alabama a 94 percent chance of signing him. LSU has the other 6 percent.
4. Devon Hunter
Position: S
Hometown: Chesapeake, Va.
Ranking: 4-star
Outlook: It’s usually tough to get Tidewater recruits away from Virginia Tech, but Hunter has four SEC schools in his final six.
The Hokies, with a 100 percent crystal ball score on 247Sports, are the leaders for Hunter’s signature, but Florida (with assistant coach Torrian Gray) and Alabama are still chasing him.
Auburn and Ole Miss aren’t waving the white flag yet, either.
3. LaBryan Ray
Position: DE
Hometown: Madison, Ala.
Ranking: 4-star
Outlook: 247Sports has him 100 percent going to Alabama, but that doesn’t mean that a few other SEC schools are ready to give up.
Ray has a visit scheduled to Tennessee this weekend, and he is scheduled to visit Alabama (Jan. 20) and Florida (Jan. 27) as well. He’s already been to Ole Miss, and he told AL.com that he’d like to get a mid-week visit to Mississippi State on his calendar.
2. Aubrey Solomon
Position: DT
Hometown: Leesburg, Ga.
Ranking: 5-star
Outlook: Solomon lists Georgia among his final four schools, but all signs point to a two-way battle between Michigan and Alabama for his services.
He had an interesting few weeks, serving up an expletive about the Wolverines before later naming them as his top school. Of course, he’s also named Alabama as his first choice in other media settings, so it’s safe to say Solomon hasn’t made up his mind.
1. Marvin Wilson
Position: DT
Hometown: Bellaire, Texas
Ranking: 5-star
Outlook: Wilson is No. 3 in the nation, the highest-rated recruit in the 247Sports rankings yet to make a commitment. So of course he is attracting all sorts of attention.
LSU remains the favorite, and the Tigers hope to get a pledge from him when he visits the campus this weekend. Ohio State, which has secured a few big names from the Lone Star State in this cycle, is still pushing hard for his signature as well.
Alabama, Florida State and Texas are also still in play.
