WINNERS

ALABAMA

The Crimson Tide only had two commits playing in this year’s game, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and running back Najee Harris, the no. 1 player in the country. By the end of the week, speculation was rampant that Harris may not be headed to Tuscaloosa after all, but as everyone found out on Sunday, he indeed stuck to his commitment. Harris may not have stole the show during the game the way he did at practice throughout the week, but there’s no reason to think from a talent perspective that he can’t be another plug-and-play star running back for the Tide. The buzz with the quarterbacks during the week wasn’t as great as some other position groups, but Tagovailoa just went about his business and had a steady week and worked well in limited time during the game.

SAN ANTONIO — The 17th edition of the U.S. Army Bowl is in the books and East team ended a three-year losing streak to the West with a 27-17 victory. Rivals.com analysts were on-hand for the entire week of practices and the game, and now we hand out some hardware to this year’s crop of Army All-Americans.

POISE UNDER PRESSURE

This is essentially for the best quarterback who performs when the lights come on and there is actually a live pass-rush coming at him. Georgia commit Jake Fromm was sensational all week for the East team, but his touchdown pass to D.J. Matthews just before the half in the Army Bowl defined poise under pressure. With three West defensive linemen immediately in his face after the snap, Fromm somehow escaped and then made a beautiful throw to Matthews in a spot between three defensive backs.

Honorable mention: All three of the East quarterbacks deserve recognition here because each was running for their lives almost immediately after the snap and somehow still led their team to victory. Alabama commit Tua Tagovailoa attempted just three passes in the game, but was credited with seven rushing attempts and only took one sack, while Hunter Johnson was able to escape pressure and smartly throw the ball away on several plays that looked like for-sure sacks.

BEST HANDS

This award goes to the wide receiver who was most reliable catching the football and/or showed they could make the spectacular catch. Michigan commit Donovan Peoples-Jones did have a couple highlight reel catches during the week of practice, but he gets the nod here primarily because he was so sure-handed. In Saturday’s game, he caught both passes that came his way for a total of 22 yards.

Honorable mention: Georgia commit Jeremiah Holloman showed a tremendous catch radius and pulled in several fingertip grabs, while his East teammate Tarik Black proved he could make the tough catches in traffic. On the West team, DeVonta Smith and Ty Jones proved to be reliable targets for their quarterbacks throughout the week and they tied for the team lead in receptions during the game.

SILENT ASSASSIN

This goes to the player who didn't make a ton of lists and didn't get a lot of attention, yet still accounted for themselves very well throughout the week. USC defensive end commit Hunter Echols never ended up making a Daily Dozen list, yet always seemed to be in the conversation after practice days. He also played solidly in the game, registering two tackles.

Honorable mention: Georgia linebacker commit Nate McBride, likewise, never registered on the Daily Dozen report, yet was noticeably good each day of practice. Meanwhile, wide receiver Devonta Smith ended up leading the West team in receptions and yards during the game, and also had a standout 7-on-7 session earlier in the week when the two teams met for an hour of practice on Tuesday.

With less than a month to go before Signing Day, there are a handful of big names who haven’t committed to a school in our current Rivals100. Rivals.com National Recruiting Director takes his best shot at predicting where some of them will end up.

Aubrey Solomon

The situation: Solomon, a one-time Michigan commitment, came out with Alabama, Michigan, Georgia and USC as his final four. Who knows where he stands? He loved his official to Alabama, is still very high on Michigan and has been to Georgia a ton of times. USC seems like a longshot.

The prediction: Alabama. Georgia has a chance thanks to the week he just spent around so many Georgia commits in San Antonio along with the push he’s getting to stay in-state. But his visit to Alabama seemed to change things for him. Solomon has said he wants to get away from home and the lure of the Crimson Tide is strong. A re-commitment to Michigan is a dark horse.

Jarez Parks

The situation: Parks is down to Alabama, Florida State, Auburn and Florida but he has also mentioned USC and Notre Dame. His leader has changed often. The four-star prospect is a quiet kid, so most of what you get is rumor and from sources aside from Parks himself. Florida State and Alabama have already received an official visit while Florida and Auburn will get their chances in January. This is a tough one to call for many reasons.

The prediction: Alabama. The Seminoles have a shot and Florida and Auburn will impress on visits. Maybe the Crimson Tide fill up before he is ready to decide? In the end, I think the Tide lands him if they want him.

Devonta Smith

The situation: Smith has always been thought to be headed to either LSU or Alabama, but Miami is now in there and will get the last official visit. He’ll take visits the last three weekends of January and those will determine where he lands. Smith has been to Alabama and LSU many times.

The prediction: Alabama. He was set to commit to Alabama a long time ago and I don’t think enough has changed to sway my pick. LSU is selling a new offense and he’s buying in a bit and Miami is selling an Ahmmon Richards-like freshman year, but Alabama is selling the success of others who have left Louisiana to head to Tuscaloosa and its need at wide receiver. That wins out in the end.

LaBryan Ray

The situation: Ole Miss got a visit, while Tennessee, Alabama and Florida will get visits in January. This one doesn’t seem to have much drama. Ray has been linked to the Crimson Tide since the beginning and it would be a stunner if they didn’t land him.

The prediction: Alabama. Someone would need to shock the world to pull an upset here.

1. Here is my basic update: Alabama source indicates Cristobal is still "weighing his options" while Oregon source says it is a done deal.

Assuming so. Some have asked the coach on Twitter, but he hasn't responded yet.

Unless something has changed Hunter Brannon can not blue shirt. Any player officially recruited meaning our staff contacted him, he visited, or received a scholarship offer can not blue shirt so he would have to grayshirt
