I'd have to guess Cavin based on taking the rest of his "foster family" apparently, and the fact that he had a blowout camp last month.

I don't even look at Bama's class without thinking he's among them.......Not an "if" but a "when".

Typically, ever noticed that if some bad news or happenings occur at Bama, we always seem to get a commitment to shift the focus away from that. Think Ridley has committed, just waiting for Saban and crew to tell him when to go public.

So how do y'all think we finish? There's so much info in here, and I'm behind, so it's hard to discern who we land and don't.

Need to add Greg Little and Devin White to the list of visitors in Dallas per Bone. Kendall hasn't confirmed as yet.

I'll give it a shot.

-Greg Little
-Ben Davis
-Mack Wilson
-Terrell Hall
-Jeffery Simmons
-Nigel Knott
-Nigel Warrior

Here's where it gets tricky. I guess we would take three out of the five following WRs:

-Keith Gavin
-AJ Brown
-Cavin Ridley
-Mykel Jones
-Demetris Robertson

My predictions are in bold. I would personally rather land Robertson over Jones and Brown over Gavin, but I don't think we will. Like someone mentioned above we probably already have a silent commitment from Ridley. Plus he helps us land 5-star 2017 WR Jerry Jeudy next year.

That would put us at 28, which I think is the number we end up with in the class.

BOL put out a "story" on our 2018 5-star OT commitment Dare Rosenthal. Of course he mentioned LSU is making a huge push for him.

He had this to say about his commitment to Alabama:

quote:

With the Bayou Bengals breathing down his neck, Rosenthal says nothing has changed with his commitment status.

“I’m still firmly committed to Alabama,” Rosenthal said.

Here's a quote from him that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside:

quote:

“When I was little I used to always tell my momma I was going to play for LSU,” Rosenthal told Shipp.“I always followed LSU and watched them all the time growing up.”

That idiot Finebaum predicted Georgia would beat us this season on ESPN. Here's his reasoning:

quote:

The last two games between these two teams have not gone well for Georgia, with the Bulldogs coming up a few yards short in the 2012 SEC Championship loss, and a 41-30 loss in Athens back in 2008, when it was Alabama ranked No. 8 and Georgia ranked No. 3.

"That game has been circled for years," Finebaum said.

With Georgia returning preseason All-American running back Nick Chubb, and a pair of preseason All-SEC selections at offensive line and outside linebacker, the Bulldogs appear to be poised for a big season.

"I like Georgia," Finebaum said. "I think it's a long time coming. I think this game has been circled for years."

Onoz! They have us circled! We is screwed, I tell ya!

Honestly, it concerns me as well. More because they're always very talented, and you never know about UGa from one week to the next. They've been the most difficult to predict program in America for quite some time. The one consistent theme with them is... when they look like you can count them out, they usually bounce back with a dominating win. When things are going well, they tend to crash and burn.

Looks pretty good. Tennessee's $ and package deals may make it very difficult for Warrior. They seem to be poised to offer a bunch of guys on that team to get Warrior and Gibbs.

Also, if you don't think we sign a second RB, who the heck is going to fill our depth chart next year?

Harris
Scarborough
Emmons (assuming he has his grades in order.. a big assumption at this point)
Ronnie Clark (more of H-Back)
Walk-on scat back RB from Texas
Walk-on Gore from Juco

I see almost no way CNS lets us have only 3 true RBs on scholarship (4 if you count Clark, who would be out of position). I'd imagine we sign one of Devin White, Abdul Adams (a lot of folks say our staff is VERY high on him.. Dantonio is a heck of a talent evaluator, especially RBs), or Thompson (Juco committed to UF).

How we make the numbers work out for all that.... I have no earthly idea. Can we have Tennessee's bizarre loophole to sign 35 this year?

I agree that I like Gavin an awful lot, too. But, at this point, I don't think we'd take anyone over AJ Brown. Based on everything I've heard, the staff believes he has a chance to be another Julio. 6'2" 220 and is an athletic, physical monster. Forget his rating. They think he's special. His first game against Noxubee County seems to show that might be the case with 14 receptions.

I understand the criticism with where we're ranked this year in the recruiting rankings compared to years past. But I can tell you from sources that don't sugar coat that the differences between our staffs evaluations and the recruiting services' rankings have never been bigger.

From what I've read the staff is really high on the JUCO kid Gore and Marks isn't a walk-on. He's on scholarship.

Two out of the three you mentioned as possibilities are committed elsewhere and who knows what White will do.

I just don't think we land another one. I'd like to, but I don't think we do.

Maybe there's still some uncertainty over Marks, but last word I saw was that Marks wasn't on scholarship (both TI and DrewD, and the University not releasing anything that he signed with us... which they always do). I have no clue how it'll play out. I'd just be surprised if Spanky Sabear doesn't try to sign one more, having observed how this is the lowest amount of scholarshipped RBs he's really ever had (and next year would be one fewer even).

Ridley cannot be denied,Gavin de-committed because of us more than likely,Brown they say is on top of our leaderboard and Jones is the top receiver in Louisiana. Got to keep the Louisiana pipeline going. Whatarewegoingtodo?

From BOL on the day Marks committed:

quote:

Marks, a three-star prospect, confirmed with BamaOnline that he has received a football scholarship to attend Alabama and will also run track.

Odds are Brown will stay home in Starkville to play for State. Other than Freddie Milons I can't think of another Starkville kid that has left the nest to play for another SEC school.

Perhaps the knee injury to Jones will keep him from having a spot a la Kwon Alexander.

They were reporting that. Then everybody and their brother were saying he actually isn't a day or so later. That he actually counts against the 105 (invited walk-on who would earn a scholarship the moment he sees the field) Who knows? If he helps us increase the pipeline in Texas and hits the Houston area hard (through his dad's connections), it'll be worth it even if he never sees a down of action on the field.

If there's any chance Emmons won't qualify, we have to sign another RB in the class. Don't have much of a choice.

Warrior is a legacy of a former two time all American and a beloved player in their program and if you truly believe the only reason he would sign with UT is because he is getting paid or some BS package deal anything you post at this point has little validity. That is as bad as a LSU fan saying Ben Davis will sign with UA because is getting paid.

You are starting to sound like some of our rival fans. You can do better than this.

And in regards to Emmons he got his grades in order including doing extra work this summer by going to summer school and unless he skips all his classes this fall it will not be an issue.
