Crazy to think of all of the early ones that didn't end up at Bama.

Kind of makes you wonder if some guys don't commit early just to hold their spot while they explore their options

One reason that's it's so hard to hold onto a longtime commitment is that every single school that continues recruiting him targets Bama in their pitches: they have a loaded depth chart, they took X players at your position last year, Saban is a hard arse, etc... A commitment hears the same things enough times from different sources and he starts to believe it. It's why CNS has said you actually have to recruit a prospect more after he commits than before

Drew D. TIFWIW. Y'all know he can sometimes be on target and sometimes miss the boat. I report. You decide.

Robinson is considered the top overall running back in the 2015 class either HS or Juco
Have been getting some texts this week asking about Jovon being interested in UA again this week so I circled around with a source this morning.
Its way too early for anyone to get excited, but I can confirm that the two sides are talking regularly.
Robinson is in the process of re-evaluating his recruitment. Burton Burns has taken over his recruitment from Kirby Smart and that is a good thing.. Burns has opened Jovon’s eyes to the fact that both Yeldon and Drake will be going pro in Jan and it will be he and Henry in 2015 (Altee Tenpenny and Tyren Jones both have Drake- like off the field issues)
I am being told Robinson wants to make a final decision prior to the start of his JC season in Sept. If a flip takes place, it might be in the next few weeks.
The 6’0 230-pound Robinson rushed for 2,387 yards and scored 34 touchdowns on 272 carries last season. The Memphis native is considered the nation’s top junior college prospect, and he helped lead GMAC to a national runner-up finish (11-1) in the 2013 season with their only loss to D.J. Pettway, Jarran Reed and East Mississippi JC in the title game. Robinson’s teammate last season, Ty Flournoy-Smith, a tight end/H-Back has signed with Alabama and is slated to play for the Crimson Tide this season.
Stay tuned.

Williams flipped due to his father, he would've stayed if it wasn't for that.

Bessent and Roberts both flipped to Auburn which turned out to be a blessing in disguise

Talamaivo was a flip to an in-state school after Kiffin got merked.

Whitley was another flip to a CA school

I don't remember the circumstances regarding Bessent and Roberts but IIRC, it was clear they were flipping. I don't think any of them committed early to "hold a spot" but were probably flipped for depth, early playtime, etc. Wouldn't surprise me if UCLA basically just threw women at Whitley. Think of it like a college decision for academics, you're going to flip between schools every few weeks after visits. One of the main reasons I don't support an early signing period is because i'd rather recruits have the longest amount of time to make their decision. Getting locked in then seeing a different place that makes you feel like no other would be a terrible position to be in.

Interesting. Makes me wonder if Jovon is in it for more than a year. Sounds like he might not jump into the NFL right away and wants to make the most out of 2 years. Roc could take carries, but so could Henry. That being said, Auburn prioritized one back more than Alabama did last season. Odd situation but I think there might be some credence to these claims.

Viane Talamaivao had also never visited UA if I remember when he committed and his cousin or good friend Mama went with him.

Whitley several factors played into his recruitment. One he always liked UCLA. Two his life long best friend committed to them. Three Kamara did not help with his negative comments while Whitley was visiting.

The problem here is his source is probably Devinners so not sure if there is anything to this.

Would love to have him even though he is a one and done, because it looks like Patrick or Harris will not be a part of our class and to me are really the only left.

Roberts flipped because his best friend committed to Auburn and grew up a fan as well. Hated the flip at the time, but turned out well.

Bessent was negatively recruited by "schools". He was quoted saying that coaches told him he was too small for Bama's system. I'd go find it if I remembered if it were 247 or Rivals that had it. Chris Williams was a huge part of his initial commitment.

First guess would be top end speed exceeding 12 mph? Or fastest in pads maybe?

Also possible that it is the fastest people per body weight. I would have thought anything to do with speed, tony brown would be 1 and 2 with marlon

Scoring based on how fast they hit top speed I'd assume. Acceleration related maybe. Could be a combination of speed and acceleration though.

From Smart's press conference, it sounds like we need to end this class with at lest 2 ILBs. Depriest is gone after this season and Ragland will be a senior. Lee might end up being inside. Also explains Anderson inside. I wonder how SDH is doing. Need to sell Leo Lewis on early PT and show him the depth to prove it.

Leo Lewis and Caban are what I see happening. Staff hasn't gone after Caban though so maybe we try to flip someone instead.
