Yeah, the throw was accurate, but it was a bad decision. But it was his only pick of the game and it was his first game starting.

Yeah, if he had have pump faked it deep, and thrown to Cooper, Cooper would have been wide-arse open with a ton of open field.

I was most impressed with Sims' composure. He seemed cool and confident even after his blunders. I am in the minority, but I was more than impressed with the offense and particularly the QB

Agreed. After A-day two years ago, the thing that concerned me the most was his composure. He started out hot last week but when things started to go bad he didn't fall apart. He kept it together and made good decisions for the most part. Very encouraging. If he can stay composed and make good decisions I'm really not all that worried about how well he throws the deep ball.

His pocket awareness is better than AJs.

After one game it seemed like it. I especially liked the way he let the rusher run by him and he just stood in the pocket and fired a shot to Cooper for first down.

One other thing about Blake that is a bit different from most QBs, at least at this point, is that he is not scared to take a hit. He'll stand in there and take a shot. I think after he got hit the first time against WVU he actually settled down a little bit. He's not a guy that is gonna be bothered by getting knocked down a little bit.

the actual pass was pretty accurate, but the other CB came off of Cooper immediately and snagged it.

I'll take your word for it... I was entertaining and pretty sauced at that point. Glad to hear it, really.

check out AJ's stats his first game of his career or even his first game last year against Va Tech and get back to me.

Perspective.

He did well.

To be fair to AJ, he wasn't a senior if we compare both of their first starts.

Will Saban start Coker sat. makes sense to me to see
how he handles it.

Idk if he starts. He's gonna get significant playing time without question because Saban already stated that. I haven't heard anything about Coker starting just yet.

Yeah, Sims will start for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if Coker throws it more since Sims threw it last week, but you never know with Saban.

Well then use AJ's first game last year vs VaT after a ton of starts, not good (10-23 w 4 sacks. If Sims had done that, the entire fanbase would have melted down).

V-Tech and our 2013 OL is a big difference from WVU and our 2014 OL.

i dont think its a big difference. I think AJ would have been sacked about 2-3 times behind the OL from last saturday.

Lets just look at what we've got; Shepherd still there and seemed to play at his same level. RG is up in the air and neither guy played as well as Steen from last year. Ryan Kelly seems to have gotten a bit stronger but he hasn't had a drastic transformation. Arie has played better. Big Cam was a true freshman, albeit one with good knees.

I just dont see a "big" difference from last year. A little difference, sure. But nothing major. Nothing like going from 2012 OL to 2013 OL.

I was also talking about the difference in VT's D (especially their front) vs WVU's.

I agree, Sims made plays in the pocket. He avoided pressure.

But the most underrated quality AJ had was not getting sacked when he should have. He wasn't doing a Johnny Football out there, but he avoided plenty of sacks in his own right.

Sims did a better job at it though. No denying that.

To be fair, Sims spent his first 2 years at Safety and RB, in that order. He's a fifth year guy, but this is his 3rd at QB. But don't let the facts skew your Sims hatin'. Carry on.

First year he was at QB not safety.

I don't know why it is that if anyone doubts Sims that they're "hatin'" on him. I don't think my momma should be the QB at AL, but that doesn't mean I don't love her. Now, I think Sims is a significantly better QB than my momma, but I still have my doubts about his ability to get the most out of this offense. I'm perfectly willing to let him prove me wrong. I hope he does. I hope he's the greatest QB to ever set foot on a college campus. I think most of the "haters" feel the same way. I've just been voicing my opinion, which is that I'm not sold. I haven't seen anything in the past 4 years that makes me think Blake Sims is at the level of any of our last 4 starting QB's. And, a bunch of short passes against in crappy defense isn't enough to change my mind yet.

This. If Sims shows as much composure against UF as he did against WVU I'll jump on board. For now I am in wait and see mode.

To be fair... I was doing the opposite of hating on Sims. Go back and read my posts. Context is everything here.
