I've been a Blake Sims fan ever since he told LSU fans to suck his nuts and was rooting for him to win the job. He looked more than serviceable to me outside of not being able to throw the deep ball. Who was surprised at how well he executed the game plan?

He did better than I expected he would. I think Kiffin is doing a better job with Sims than Nussmeier would've done. Just hope he continues to improve from week to week.

better than expected but I hate that he can not hit a pass farther than 15 yds. I think against teams like LSU, Florida and aTm it will hurt us. That said its hard not to pull for him after his selfless service at Alabama. I would like to wait until Coker sees the field to see if he can accurately and consistently attack the middle of the field and push the ball down the field through the air.

People seem to forget that the dink and dunk, and running the ball open up downfield passing plays pretty quickly. Guarantee we see a couple of deep throws connecting soon.

Sims was good and better than expected, but he needs to progress if we want him to lead us to a championship.

We've got to take advantage of his running ability.

Call me old fashioned, but I like a QB that can make all the throws. Running is great, as a bonus. But, we have 5 RB's who are better than Sims.

Wasn't surprised at all. I've been team Sims since before A Day.

He played much better than in the A-Day games (the only other time we have really seen him actually run the full offense and not just do mostly zone read), so I was pleasantly surprised. I am worried about teams than can crowd the LOS and take away the short passing game. His height and lack of arm strength and/or accuracy on the longer throws may cause problems against the couple of defenses (e.g., Florida and LSU) that may be able to force Alabama to throw over the top.

I thought he'd do alright, but what surprises me is how poised he was and how well he did in the pocket. He stayed in the pocket until he had to leave and showed some of the best pocket awareness I've seen from an Alabama QB. I realize he probably should have run a little more, but it comforted me to know that he wasn't going to panic and bail on the play-call the first chance he would get. That is what I hate about most dual-threat QBs.

He has surprised me every step of his career.

His QB play against WV was a pleasant surprise. I'm still skeptical but hopeful he proves to be a good starter or backup. I'm giving a lot of credit to the QB coach he had during offseason.

I am on board and don't care if the FSU retread sees daylight. As long as we are competing I am a happy camper.

I'd like to see him trust his legs a little more honestly. He doesn't do a great job of throwing on the run into coverage. When he gets out in space on the corner I'd rasther see him turn upfield than try to fit the ball in a window or throw across his body. There were a few incompletions he had on difficult throws where he could have picked up 5-10 yards with his feet

My thoughts too. There was one throw however that I was screaming at my TV for him to run it and then he completed a pass to Jones for like 13 yards and I just got quiet.

But yeah, plenty of other times he could have just ran. That'll come with more confidence in his game at QB. We all know he likes to run.

I was thinking last night watching the NFL that Sims is very similar in size and throwing motion to Russel Wilson. Of course Wilson is one of the best clutch quarterbacks in the NFL but if Wilson can do what he's done perhaps Sims has a chance to become a star, at least at this level any way.

Better than expected, but I still don't know if he can consistently hit passes down the field.

Wilson has a lot better arm strength than Sims.

I was pleasantly surprised by Sims, but he missed a few throws that we'll need him to polish up before Florida.

His pocket awareness is better than AJs. He made a few quick moves in the pocket to extend plays which was comforting.

I worry what he will do when he faces a D that can really bring the pressure. Will he show the same poise? Will he get really rattled? Looks like we will have to wait for the UF game to find out.

Checking in.

Wheels got him out of trouble 2 or 3 times. Hyper accurate within 20 yards. Made a HORRIBLE INT, and can't pass the 20. but he can win with our schemes. a little surprised Coker will get more than just end game play time when we've put games away.

the actual pass was pretty accurate, but the other CB came off of Cooper immediately and snagged it.
