I wonder if Saban will still discipline them.

I've posted it in a couple of threads. You can if you or any else wants to.

They're starting to anchor some of the threads now.

Your grammar indicates that you may be high right now.

Yes they are. One of my contributions:

quote:

Closed park=reasonable suspicion to investigate ??

Yes.

quote:

Weed smell=probable cause to search??

Depends on officer's articulation of what he observed.

quote:

Close proximty to drugs/guns of front passengers=probable cause to arrest??

Yes. No question they did not beat the ride, but they beat the case. See above regarding articulation. Not even mentioning two other occupants in the vehicle. That is some Mayberry $hit right there.

You don't know that it's undeserved.

They had the drugs and they had the guns. They were the only people in the car.

That's a 100% slam dunk possession conviction anywhere in the US (other than the places that have made marijuana legal).

They got off with a complete walk because they're college football players. The DA didn't even try to hide his real reason. Here's his exact quote: "I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning."

LINK

That is the complete and absolute definition of an undeserved break. I'm not hating on them for getting it. Prosecutors have the discretion to treat people differently based on what they think is in the best interests of justice.

As was pointed out in many threads, they could have been charged with another felony each and faced the very real possibility of Louisiana state prison so I said in my post, I hope they learn to make much better decisions in the future. If they don't, they might not be nearly as fortunate in the future.

anyone who disagrees with any of this is a homer dumbass who probably thinks the stanford kid was mistreated ...

This was always going to be tossed one way or the other. They weren't getting locked for a first offense, non-violent crime.

I'm the guy that posted that and while the DA's statement seems to say plain as day that his main reason for dropping the charges was because of what they've done with their lives, the information that came out later in the day pretty much makes my earlier posts worthless.

I stand firmly by the parts where I said I hope they use the incident as a learning tool to make better decisions, but the fact that there were two other people in the car that weren't arrested (not public information until yesterday afternoon) puts the case in a different light. If you've got unclaimed drugs in the car and selectively decide who you're going to arrest, that's a really big problem.

Anyone in their right mind from Monroe knows who Cam Robinson is. He was a high school All-American from a town that's not that big. To think this arrest had nothing to do with a L5U fan boi cop trying to flex his nuts and hurt Alabama football is ludicrous. If not, why did he let the other two people off the hook?

I really wish they would have just reduced the charges to misdemeanors and given them community service and probation. That would have kept their records clean and prevented people from screaming preferential treatment. Ah well, will be interesting to see if Saban uses suspensions here or not. I'm guessing not, but wouldn't be shocking with a 1-2 game suspension either.

This pisses me off. Cam and Hootie's crimes were victimless. But the Stanford kid sexually assaulted an unconscious woman.
