If DaBear said something along the lines of "wed love to have you but well win without you" I have more respect for DaBear

All this stuff has to stop. Because from team to team from year to year, you're going to have to rerecruit internally each year.
Portal+NIL has fricked everything up. As far as Downs goes, what NFL GM will take him? Especially if he moves around again?

Think it has everything to do with Austin Mack. Our coaches probably did not show much faith in Sayin. Remember Deboer and Sayin have a history from being on the West Coast. Deboer May have preferred Mack to Sayin.

NFL GMs don't care if they transfer to a new school every year...once they're professional they have them under contract.

Can you imagine Patrick Mahomes just shopping his services to the highest bidder annually?

This insanity forced on us by the courts is killing the game. But you've even got the Biden DOJ siding against basically any transfer restrictions at all.

Yeah, I’m gonna call BS on his “explanation”. He left for the money, pure and simple and this is nothing more than a feeble/pathetic attempt on his part to not look as bad as he does.

I’d have a lot more respect for him if he just admited it was all about the $$$ and nothing else.

In what world does that quote make sense - or make you look good?

Very disappointing. We are learning that you never really know what is going on with these guys.

How much pressure is on Ryan Day. Being at OSU means fans calling plays can win 10. So with the three straight losses to CJH... People in Ohio are realizing... He is not delivering

He has to get to a natty. He has a new AD that can "choose to go another direction"

So when downs days "need" - yep and that means a mint.

Ohio State would be stupid to get rid of Day. The media started this whole "his job's in jeopardy because he hasn't beat Michigan for 3 years" narrative and some fans just run with it. Running off a coach with 3 playoff and 1 NC game appearances would be the dumbest move they could make, which is why I hope they do.

Or Kent State. They probably need him even more.

Meh. He’s no Minkah.

Exactly! Minkah could actually cover people well.

And Minkah had a knack for finding himself in the endzone holding the football.

Downs isn't fit to carry Minkah's jock. Or Ha-Ha's. Or Eddie's.

I remember another coach saying something like that to a top rated WR who ended up being a first round draft choice, and that coach ended up signing the guy and having a pretty decent coaching career.

Watching tape of downs again and while he's a superb run stopping safety I think we won't be gashed by him being gone. No telling how good he could progress and it obviously sucks to lose him. But he's much more of a landon Collins than Minkah type. And the later is much more impactful imo

Wait. You quit watching Alabama football but you post on an Alabama board about football? Why?

His (Downs) blown coverage on 4th down was the start of Bama’s choke against Michigan.
