I've been enjoying Good People's New England IPA the past couple of weeks. It was taproom only, and its probably run dry by now, but it was an excellent beer.

Trimtab released a couple of small batch can series the last couple of weeks. I didn't get to try the first one, which was a Peach/Apricot Gose, but the second was a Guava/Passionfruit Berliner, and it was EXCELLENT. Perfect summer beer.

My buddy just sent me some Jucifer, and Brightside IPAs from Gnarly Barley(Hammond, LA) in the mail, so I am stoked to try those.

Hmm, I haven't had any Good People lately. I need to try that.

I had completely forgotten about this thread. Having said that, the next time Velvet Evil is available at Straight to Ale up in Huntsville it is a beer that I deem worth the drive.

The next time they can a batch I will go up there to buy and take some home. Very high alcohol beer that doesn't taste like it. Very, very smooth.

Hopefully they will brew some more like it, or similar at least. Its a great beer in taste and appearance.

The Guava/Passionfruit Berliner from Trim Tab is too.

Also, if anyone living in or near Nashville hasn't tried any Bearded Iris, then I highly suggest doing so.

I haven't tried the Velvet Evil. I will make it a point to check it out next time I see it. I know I've seen it around Bham.

I haven't tried the Velvet Evil either. Their Monkeynaut is one of my go-to beers.

I haven't tried many new beers lately. One of my favorite "cheap" beers is Wild Range IPA from Aldi, although it tastes more like a regular ale than an IPA. But, anyway, they had a grapefruit version of it the last time I was in Aldi. So, I picked up a 6 pack and gave it a try. It's fair if you don't mind a bit of a grapefruit kick.

Black Warrior has this new Cherry Wheat beer that looks good.

You guys try any good Belgium beers? I went to Cravings last week and got one. For the life of me, I can't remember what it was.

Funky,

Do you shop for your beer at the Homewood Pig? Noticed the glasses in your pics. I have Andrew's contact info in my cell phone. He orders all the beer there.

I buy a good bit of beer from the Homewood Pig, as I live right down the street. Their selection is impressive. I have the number of the woman who I assume is one of the main beer/win reps there, and I sometimes text her to reserve limited releases for me. They are always accommodating.

We might have to have a sit down at the Horse's Tail some time. It has a different name now.

Huntsville beer scene has been exploding. I like red ales and brown ales and in the winter I like the stouts.

Green bus has a great red ale but they don't bottle so you have to get it there.

Yellowhammer has my go to red ale...Rebellion Red.

Rocket republic is making some great beers right now. Their brown has replaced good people as my go to.

I don't really drink lagers but when I do I like the cave city lager by old black bear.

I had to google Horse's Tail It is Oak Hill Bar and Grill now. I've been there a few times. Food isn't bad either.

Red Hills Brewery in Homewood just came out with a Pilsner that is pretty solid IMO.

You come drinking on my turf and do not announce yourself. For shame.

I've had all three they've released. The Guava/Passionfruit Berliner was definitely the best. The peach/apricot gose was just okay, and the dry hopped IPL wasn't anything great. I really don't get the appeal of IPL's though.

I was really looking forward to this last one they were doing that they scrapped, but now I forget what it was. Blood Orange gose I think.

Just going to make this a general discussion thread now because it's the off season. What's everyone drinking these days? Any new local or region beers that I should get my hands on?

One of my favorites out of Huntsville is Monkeynaut by Straight to Ale it is an IPA so it's pretty hoppy, the other is the new sour mash by Avondale, they serve it around some of the local restaurants in Avondale area but not sure if it's canned.
