I forgot about Kendal Clark...she's supposed to be that power hitter we are missing. "Bailey Hemphill type"

So, who's the new hitting coach?
Posted on 6/22/23 at 8:24 pm to LATIDER
You know Murph is just gonna promote Ryan Iamurri from volunteer assistant to the position. He's not going to actually look for a hitting coach.

would have done so by now. My guess Greg told him to look for the best and money would be there

Pretty sure they can't until July 1st. And then it'll be Iamurri. I'd love to be wrong though.

According to On3, Ryan will be moving to an off-the-field role - so it doesn’t sound like it will be her.

Sophomore Catcher Riley Valentine to Join Alabama Softball
The Phoenix, Ariz., native played her freshman season at Texas A&M
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball has announced the addition of sophomore catcher Riley Valentine to its 2024 roster, joining the Crimson Tide after spending her freshman season at Texas A&M.
Valentine appeared in 40 games with 20 starts for the Aggies in 2023, driving in 20 RBIs with nine of her 12 hits going for extra bases, including six home runs. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week on March 14 after going 3-for-5 with a home run, double and two RBIs in Texas A&M's series win against then-No. 9 Arkansas.
A Phoenix, Ariz., native, she was a four-time all-conference and all-region honoree at Sandra Day O'Connor High School and played club softball with the Arizona Storm, earning PGF All-America accolades in 2022. She was ranked No. 26 overall and No. 10 among catchers in Extra Inning Softball's 2022 Extra Elite Top 100.
Valentine is the sixth newcomer on the current 2024 Crimson Tide roster, alongside fifth-year transfer pitcher Kayla Beaver, sophomore transfer pitcher Alea Johnson, junior college transfer infielder Kendal Clark, freshman pitcher Jocelyn Briski and freshman outfielder Lauren Johnson.
From Riley Valentine
"Words cannot express how incredibly grateful I am for this opportunity. To take the field with 'Bama' across my chest with my Crimson Tide teammates is something most girls can only dream about. I'm so excited to be part of the Alabama family! Every path leads you to exactly where you're supposed to be. Sometimes the path will be long but it will be worth it! Proverbs 3:5-6"
From Alabama Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"We are so excited to welcome Riley to our softball family. She is a great young lady from an awesome family. Riley will add athleticism, pop and great leadership to our team."

So no HITTING COACH yet?
Posted on 7/13/23 at 4:19 pm to Joka2kold
The rumor circulating is that Adam Arbour has been hired as the hitting coach and Ryan is moving into his old position of player development

I got to Google this guy!
Welp, I did and I'm not impressed. He's been on staff and he probably was the hitting coach already anyway along with Murphy.

Any word on the team. And someone speculated that Fouts and her former Catcher may play in Italy since it was exhibition only.

I read third hand that Bama lost one game 4-1 and won one game 4-0. Not sure who pitched/played but had read previously Fouts and Shipman were just along for the ride (taking Stevenson and Barnhart’s spots) and would not play.

No details but it looks like Kinley Pate (Samford) is the latest transfer into the softball program. Haven’t seen a formal announcement but her Twitter picture now shows her in a Bama uniform.
