or maybe Seattle will pick him up. They have 2 ex-DL guys on the OL. Plus, it would keep Barrett in the same division and he goes up against the St. Louis DL in practice.

Lost the Center job to Tim Barnes, the other Center they kept had better athleticism, and they cut him because he couldn't play another position(which is night and day from college).
He may just be one of those great college players that don't have the ability to have the same success. Steelers signing him will give him a shot, he might be signed to the main roster before too long.

Not trying to argue but, Barrett won national awards at three different positions in college. I understand that he was just about topped out in potential physically, but I figured his versatility would keep him in the league as a backup. Oh well, shows what I know.

The reason was he didn't have much functional strength, really pigeonholing him as a pivot man and nothing more. They didn't like his runblocking strength per reports, which really takes him out of the Guard equation.
It's not that he doesn't know how to play other positions, just when they did, they didn't like what they saw.
