Stansbury actually makes a ton of sense. I assume he knows him well from his son's recruitment, apparently Avery helped them recruit the big time guys the pulled in along with Stansbury, Stansbury knows the area and the SEC well, and we could likely give him a raise.

I'd be open to it. I hated the idea of Stansbury as a HC when that got floated around, but I really like the idea of him as an assistant.

That's it. Nobody else needs to bother with it anymore.

And I could definitely see him stealing Stansbury from A&M. His son is there, and they have the number three recruiting class. I'm thinking Stans the reason, and him and Avery after buddies. So it would make plenty of sense

I think Stansbury would be a great hire.

I know the current floor is only a few years old but its too plain...I think we should go full gimmicky and have a heard of elephants at the bottom of the court with the African scenery like some teams have their skyline or whatever else and put Alabama crimson tide around the circle and a small script A inside the circle.

OK my idea is shitty.

But you don't think the court is plain?

It would be great if the recruits buckled a seat belt instead of putting on a bama hat.

This is such a homer run hire. Battle is looking like a genius.

I'd take Avery Johnson every day over Greg Marshall. He is going to bring a different spectrum off the court and on the court. I just hope the wins come as well, because he is going to be an amazing personality.

It's a good hire, but we don't know if it is a "home run" yet.

Avery's checklist:

Assemble a strong coaching staff
Salvage a recruiting class
Work with Battle to improve the future in game experience (students on the baseline, etc)
Get the players bought in, excited, and playing well
Win.

I didn't want to say it, but Marshall saying no was serendipity for our program.

AJ > Marshall

Folks, I'm as excited as anyone, but let's hold off on these comparisons until we see results. I could certainly see it being the case (I wouldn't take the Alabama job unless I knew we could make the Final Four), but until it happens, we ought not to be so liberal with superlatives.

100% agree. Marshall is very proven, though I would have worried about him personality wise.
