I don't get what in the world would make Kiffin make a less-than-lateral move. Are we not wanting to keep him around? Are we unwilling to pay favorably compared to LSU? Because Kiffin owes his hot-commodity status to Nick Saban and a bad year under Coach O would not serve to help him.

I just don't get it.

Only way he goes there is if Saban is pushing him out and he has no other job offers.

If Kiffin leaves to be LSU's OC it's because Saban told him to get another job ASAP.

The only thing Kiffin would voluntarily leave for is a head coaching gig.

Remember when nothing has happened yet and you are setting yourself up to look stupid? No Houston, no USF, maybe FAU. Stick around it may get interesting.

Kiffin needs to wait for Charlie Strong to become official at USF. If it does, he needs to go beg Nick for another year at Alabama and make another run at it next year. Jumping at FAU would be moronic. I think going to LSU has a big risk of becoming quickly dysfunctional and now you're not even in the discussion a year from now. He stays at Alabama, there's no doubt he will have another great offense numbers wise, he will be in the spotlight, and his name will be out there.

In all likelihood if he stays on to win another national championship, which he was staying until after the Playoff anyway. Then maybe Nick would reconsider him staying. But chasing women, Drinking, and barely sleeping are only going to last so long. We shall see how it plays out.

He may still go to LSU. Wild as it seems, some Alabama fans would be glad for him to go to LSU because they said it would be so.

edit: downvote all you want to, but you know it's so. Something hit a nerve.

No. I wasn't talking about you. Just I get the distinct feeling that some folks would rather be right about something even if it could be bad for the home team.

edit: See. Some of the same crew downvoted you too, for whatever reason. Some sensitive forks out there.

edit too: If St. Nick is actually ready for Lane to be movin on, LSU may be his only choice by the time this is over.

When have Coaches O & K ever combined for a positive outcome?

I think this is basically what people have been saying from the get go. Lane wants a HC job, but apparently can't stay at Alabama. Whether it's true or not (a lot more people are saying this other than message board rumors) I'm not sure why some folks don't understand.

Well it was rather obvious when they didn't offer him a contract extension that either he had said I'm. It come my back or Saban said you're not coming back.

His interview was pretty telling as well. When asked if he would be back at Alabama next year he said I want to come back but that's up to the boss.

And every time Saban answers a question about Lane he says he hopes this HC opportunity works out for him or maybe another one. Not one time has he mentioned anything close to Kiffin coming back to Alabama. So, take a look at he remaining HC job openings and try to figure out where he lands. LSU probably is his backup plan.
