My understanding is Enos's non-compete clause is not money-related and is enforceable. He CANNOT move to another SEC West school. I'm sure there are legal eagles here that would challenge it but it was written to be enforceable. They don't want him at a rival school and for good reason. The man is damn good.
The Napier thing has legs I think. He's been there less than a week, probably hasn't even signed his contract yet, hasn't bought a house, yada, yada. He's probably still available, and would most likely be interested. Are we interested in him? That is the question.

I read the language regarding Enos' contract and he can leave for a $350K buyout this year and it decreases to $250K next year and then $100K the following year.
It says he can leave for a head coaching position within the SEC, but not a lateral or decreased role.
Now, does that mean he can't take an assistant or associate head coach role to circumvent the clause? I don't know.

I think if Saban knew Sark was leaving and he wanted Napier he wouldn't have let him go to Arizona State. Napier may have left because he would have been passed up for our OC two times in one offseason.
It's possible Saban did not know or suspect that Sark might leave until after Napier took the ASU job.

I'm just ready to not have anymore drama at the OC spot. Tired of it being such a hot topic and want some stability there.

I think Sterlin Gilbert would fit nicely with your concerns.

Yep. I think Gilbert or Napier make pretty good sense.

helped a frosh qb develop during the season. nations leading running back this year. scoring was not Texas' problem this year and is who I would like to be OC as well.

Napier is interesting.
One one hand, his first opportunity as OC was considered a flop as his offense regressed heavily from 2009 to 2010 with a lot of returning playmakers.
On the other hand, he was a 30 year old handed the reins arguably too early. He has had time to learn under the likes of Saban, McElwain, Nussmeier, and Kiffin. A proven WR coach and recruiter.
He has had time to adapt and evolve his system, which had potential...

I'd be okay with Napier on the condition we bring in a bona fide QB coach along with him.

Shane Buechele did have a late season collapse himself, but did well as a freshman.
Kinda some odd parallels with him and Hurts...

Yea, it's almost like it's really hard playing QB at a P5 school as a true freshman or something.
Weird.
Weird.

Well Napier did formerly coach QBs at Clemson, but I wouldn't mind another guy if the "Co-OCs" had position jobs too.
I still like to think there's something to the Clint Trickett hire that won't be revealed until the 10th coach ruling passes...

Don't care who it is as long as we get away from the shotgun based, read option offenses. I don't know why our fans laugh at the Big 12 on one hand for being soft and then turn around and desire OCs that run those same type offenses.

I'm good with Gilbert or Riley. Do not want Kelly, Helfrich, Locksley or Martin. Kitchens seems interesting. He's made a name for himself in the pros.

Outside of worrying he'd just be here for a year, I don't know how anyone in their right mind can say this.

Maybe I'm missing something but why would George Godsey leave Houston to come here? We might as well throw Mike Shula's name in the hat to see if he can restore his Legacy.

I didn't realize that. Should any of the blame for how terrible Brock was be placed on him?

Think a lot of people believe he was used as scape goat for O'Brian.
