The thing is, they only started getting pressure in the 2nd half. They couldn't do shite at he beginning. Ole Miss holds pretty bad

We need to sustain drives against Ole Miss. Their offensive success in the first half was due to pace. If you can sustain drives against them, their D will wear out as they are not very deep this year on that side of the ball. FSU drove the ball on 'em in the second half, got some turnovers and a three and out, and their D stayed on the field, got gassed, and never recovered...

Anthony Averett will probably get picked on quite a bit in this game. We can make fun of O.M all we want for their implosion, but they did look pretty damn good and Kelly can make any throw he wants.

Hurts/Barnett are going to have to grow up real fast for this game on the road.

Makes me really wish Demarcus Walker stayed committed to Alabama. Really one of the best pass rushers in CFB.

I actually think they FSU gave Hurts the blueprint for beating Ole Miss.

Possibly, but you know they're going to throw out some exotic blitzes on them. Not saying Hurts or Barnett will have trouble, but it won't be as easy as everyone thinks.

Three main reasons why I'm confident:

1. We won't turn the ball over five times.
2. Robert Nkemdiche isn't on their roster/our OL is better than last year
3. Our QB situation will be better going into the game.

I keep seeing this, but I didn't notice that Averrett had a bad game.

Here is my .10 cents on this game:

Our front 7 are light and fast, I think we will be able to make Kelly have to get rid of it quick and or run. Depending on how we stop those two things will make a difference.

People keep talking about AA like he is a weak link. He isn't. He had one catch over his head slightly where he couldn't find the ball. Bright lights. He was in position and def was not out run. If you notice anytime they went deep AA was not beat deep by way of speed. He is doing well IMO and had a great first game. If he has any issues we slide Harrison over and let eddie keep the center clean. We won't need safeties on run support for OM just passing lanes. OM loves the center of the field so that will be key.

OM has a good front 7, no doubt about it. We have to use Hurts legs some to get them honest and open the middle up some. Once we do that Harris will have some success. Obviously we know Hurts can throw and OM secondary is lacking big time. I think we take 6 shots deep on them. If we get 2 or 3 I call that a win.

OM will do what they think is our weakness. The hurry up. Maybe they account for Pruitt maybe they don't. But we will be ready.

Agreed, but I guess when it's pretty much the only successful play USC had all night people will be nitpicky. He was in good position, it was just a good throw and a good catch. It happens.

My two concerns with the OM offense are the size they have at WR, and as often as we play man leaving the field open for Kelly yo run. He's not a great runner, but effective when things break down and the defense is in man coverage.

I'm saying he will get picked on more so because I highly doubt they'll go against an experienced corner in Humphrey.

We will be ready for Kelly. I am convinced that our defense is the best in the nation hands down. Our secondary is sick. Our linebackers are sick and our dline is sick. It's really unfair to have a defense good enough to make an impact in the NFL. This isn't gump-speak either. I know we are looked down on for talking like that but I believe it.

Jon Allen is a monster. Reuben is a monster. Eddie is very good. These 3 guys are our leaders and we are in good shape. Oh we have the top pass rusher in college football too. We have probably the fastest linebacker in Evans as well.

I could go on but I have never seen a defense loaded with elite talent everywhere in my 41 years like this team.

Ole Miss better eat their wheaties.

I think our front particularly the pass rush is better than FSU...Spy Kelly and don;t let him get out of there and hurt us with his legs.

Take away Evan Engram and make one of the younger receivers try and beat us.

Against our offense they are going to blitz stunt and slant. Hurts has the potential to hurt them badly when the crash down on our RB's Francois did the same thing to them.

Big game for OJ Howard and the check off passes because they play so far off and deep it will be hard to hit shots.

I think Averett's already pretty good, just gotta turn his head and find the ball...other than the long pass on the first drive (and he had the guy covered, just never turned his head), I thought he played pretty well...

I agree...but I think it might backfire on 'em like it did against FSU. They scored quickly in the first half, but when they turned the ball over in the second half, along with a 3 and out, their D got gassed as they were always on the field. As you said, their front seven is good, but they don't have a lot of depth...if we sustain some drives, and Ole Miss runs hurry up, I think their D gets worn down in the second half...

Yep. We need to knock him down early and often.

Against an offense like this, you have to attack and disrupt what they're doing.

We also have to sustain drives on offense. Another 1st quarter like the USC game could get us into trouble quickly with our defense being gassed. Our D is elite, but not deep on experience.

Here's the thing - our defense is faster than last year's unit and despite what every single OM fan and probably most Bama fans think last year's defense did a very good job considering the positions they found themselves in.

24 of their 43 points followed Bama turnovers and drives of 2, 26, 18, 24 yards. Another touchdown came as a result of the helmet bounce play. Actual, legit 'drive the field against the Bama D' possessions resulted in a whopping 12 points with 6 being the long TD on the questionable RPO play.

The stars simply aligned for them that night. Of course, it could happen again but I'm as confident as one can be that the Rebs are going to find it tough sledding in a couple of weeks.
