Don't you only get to declare and pull back one time though? I could be making that up but I could have sworn I remember that was the rule.

So, doing it now is fine, but it seems like it would make more sense later on. Of course, maybe you do it now to strategically figure out what to work on the next 1-2 years.

The only reason I mentioned Ferguson is that I don't think he'd give a glowing review of playing overseas if Key asked him. I get what your saying.

quote:

It is extremely rare for undrafted NBA players to make it to the league regardless of where they play. The majority of the very few that have made it have had experience overseas as well as in the D-League.

I agree. I do think players have a better chance in the D League though because it's easier to get a 10 day contract from the D League with a NBA team. Some guys like Jeremy Lin and Jamychal Green have played well enough in that 10 days to end up with a full contract later.

Either way if Braxton doesn't get drafted he's very unlikely to get to the NBA which is why I only think he'll leave if someone lies to him about his draft potential or a team falls in love with him.

Javian Fleming and Merion Jones are playing together for Team Thad which is one of Under Armour's best AAU teams. They play in New York this weekend. Here they are playing against some likely overmatched teams in Birmingham YouTube

Jones is #20
Fleming is #24

Also here is Team Thad's page on the Under Armour League website. I'm going to try to figure out where each Bama prospect is playing AAU ball, but some of these websites are pretty poorly made.

DLeague is massively changing too. Nearly every team has one now and the new NBA CBA introduces 2 way contracts.

10 day contracts are the biggest benefit of the D-League for sure. The benefit of playing overseas is coaching and playing better, organized basketball instead of the stat-whoring that goes on in the D-League. Also the downside of playing in the D-League as an undrafted player is that each team has affiliates in the NBA and their draft picks get preferential treatment. Like I said though it does involve a bit of both though. In fact, both Lin and Green played overseas as well.

It is crazy the amount of money guys are going to make going forward for just landing a 10 day. It is something like $200 grand I think I saw.

As teams continue to build their own affiliates we are seeing more and more of them resemble their NBA teams. Similar systems, sets, terminology, and coaches from the NBA team.

Ideally him and Jones become friends playing together, and we can land both.

Cecil: Fans Anxiously Wait on Key's Decision

No new info in this article. Some good lines about being an Alabama basketball fan though.

frick Auburn! What exactly has Bruce Pearl done with all the five star talent he's pulled down there to the Plains? Despite The advantage of at least a one season Headstart, Auburn has not been able to do anything with it. It's still a basketball black hole where players and coaches go to ruin their career.

I have to wonder if Bruce's seat is a little hot. He really hasn't done any better than Barbee.

His seat would be hot at any other school, but it being Auburn who hasn't made the tourney in like 15 years, they're just happy to beat Bama and be on the NIT bubble. If he continues to miss the tourney, it could get hotter, but who else are they gonna be able to get? Firing Pearl would be a huge mistake, not bc he's some great coach, but bc they won't get anyone near as good as him.

I don't know. They could give a mid major coach a shot. Auburn is in a great recruiting location and has a new arena. I don't think they'd have trouble getting another coach in with a shot to be good.

Sure Bruce is recruiting great there, but the two best players he's gotten Wiley and Montgomery just fell in his lap. Any coach with a pulse could've gotten those guys to AU.
