I disagree and the reason I say I disagree because we didn't really know who he was going after. He wouldn't put any info out. I mean all of the good players we got basically were in state guys or out of state guys that the major college in their state didn't want like Releford and Hale. Ill say one thing people say he didn't play the game but I know for a fact that he played it to get Trevor Lacey.

I agree with Bird. I remember when he was criticized for slow playing guys like Jacorey Williams. Many felt he concentrated on too many national guys. The same recruiting tweets were there about Grant in the beginning. He didn't work for us. No need to pile on and rewrite history. It's cool the staff is all over the place, but I quit won't be impressed until these highly rated recruits start committing.

No coach puts out that info, nor can they. Social media does, and they did put out a lot of info on who Grant was after as well.

That has nothing to do with him not going after the highly-rated guys. Like I said, his downfall was focusing too much on the big fish that we went hungry at the end of most classes.

I'm not sure what you've been told, but I'm pretty sure Lacey was just pressured into going to Alabama by everyone around him (family, friends, his HS coach, Levi, etc.). I thought that the moment he announced it. That was the most forced smile I've ever seen after a commitment. His eyes looked full of regret.

I know Trevor and his family. He played the game trust me. Maybe he didn't have to because Kentucky really didn't want to touch him due to the issues they were having at the time. I want say much but the reputation that he didn't is BS.

I agree with everything you said but this point. Assistants typically talk with recruiting guys so they'll do updates on certain players to let fans know who they're recruiting as well as to help the coach know where they stand. That wasn't allowed with Grant at the helm. I'm guessing there will be info leaked with Johnson as coach.

Johnson and Simon are both there. Not sure where Pettway and Pospichal are today.

Here's a good scout article with Heron's dad: LINK

ETA: he said he was impressed with Johnson as well as our facilities and that Mustapha is probably likes Johnson, Mullin, and Woj best.

quote:

Patrick Engel: Now onto some of these other schools. You just visited Alabama in early July. What did you get to do, and what impressed you? Bryan Heron: “I mean Avery (head coach Avery Johnson), his resume is very impressive. The facilities are really nice. He also has a good plan.”

quote:

Patrick Engel: Is a rising program like Mississippi State just as appealing as an established one? Bryan Heron: “Yes. I actually like the rising programs with the younger new coaches or the (household) names. I just think a place like Alabama or Mississippi State, just because they’re new, they’re trying to make a splash, so they have to have the energy. I think that a lot of it is energy.”

quote:

Patrick Engel: Was there any one coach who really struck Mustapha? Bryan Heron: “I think Avery, (Saint John’s head coach) Chris Mullen, I know he loves Woj’s energy.”

Alabama: Avery Johnson, plus I have a really good relationship with Alabama assistant coach Bob Simon. He’s been recruiting me since 8th grade. I’m excited about the opportunity to play for a former NBA coach and former NBA player.”

Yeah that's what they're saying on BOL but I don't have AAVIP so I can't read it. Maybe RTRAmerica will check this thread

I read it. "Alabama has been rumored with Ferguson." It went on to cite the relationship between Pospichal and Kenny Trout as to why that is so.

No clue. I just assumed it was Ferguson's AAU coach.

Troutt is a rich Dallas guy. Ferguson goes to school in Dallas but AAU wise has nothing to do with them since he plays for Mo's team.
