It's for Duke
I saw on twitter that Kouassi is heading to Tuscaloosa today. Don't know how long he'll be in town for. It's also a weird week for Nick King to be officially visiting too since you'd think all our coaches would be recruiting at the tournaments in Kentucky this weekend.

Johnson visited Terrance Ferguson last night: LINK
ETA: And Jerry Meyer picked us to land him in the crystal ball. Unreasonable hopes engaged.

Thanks to Ellitor on the AU board:
[quote]@GabeThaGreat · 21h 21 hours ago Avery Johnson has already made a huge push with the top players in Alabama. Particularly the Alabama Challenge AAU team. Research the roster
@GabeThaGreat · 21h 21 hours ago The Alabama Challenge is a EYBL team. Big time players.
@GabeThaGreat · 20h 20 hours ago @Ellitor_AU @AU_Beards we are going to miss on a lot of the Alabama challenge. An AAU coach told me it’s already over. We’ll see though.
@GabeThaGreat · 20h 20 hours ago @auchamps4life @Ellitor_AU his AAU coach says he’s bama. (talking about Wiley)
@GabeThaGreat · 20h 20 hours ago @Ellitor_AU @auchamps4life exact quote was “this AAU team will bring bama back”.[/quote
The Aubs seem to take @GabeThaGreat seriously.

So that's Austin Wiley, Johnson, and Petty. The melt down would be epic if Pearl doesn't end up with Wiley.

What does it all mean!

It means they believe that we will get some of the players from Alabama Challenge AAU team which has majority of the top talent in state. They have Austin Wiley, J. Petty, and J. Johnson. All 3 of our in state players played for them last year.

I am gonna go out a limb and say the are a Nike team

Can somebody explain the whole "Nike" etc thing in college basketball recruiting? I casually follow basketball recruiting, and I've been wondering.
Thanks
Thanks

Kids who play for Nike sponsored AAU teams usually go to Nike schools. Same with Adidas and UA.
The high level guys "shockingly" end up signing with these same companies once they get drafted

Nike...Jordan. AAU teams are sponsored by either Nike, Addidas, and im guessing Under Armour now. May be some others as well. Anyway they are usually pushed towards the college that is sponsored by that company as well. The reason being is that these companies would want them to wear their stuff when they become professionals.
"A Courier-Journal database shows that 58 percent of the Rivals.com's top 10 seniors in the signing classes beginning in 2011, the first class from the Nike-backed Elite Youth Basketball League, came from Nike clubs, and of those, 69 percent, or 20 players, committed to college teams sponsored by that apparel company. Four committed to adidas-sponsored colleges"

Think this is about recruiting or just being back in Tuscaloosa in general?

It has to be a good sign either way right? He never lived in Tuscaloosa right? Thought he lived in B Ham. Maybe he wanted to come to Bama the whole time but the recruiting process got in the way.

I think Knox lives in Tuscaloosa but I could be wrong.

Ahh okay. I assumed it was something good for us since Cecil retweeted it.

Dang that's not good for him or that team. They didn't look to good the other day.
