What recruit's parent has ever not said this about Grant?

Super glad we offered him though. Sounds like a diamond in the rough.

I got some twitter update on my phone that the Bama basketball account, Devin Mitchell, and Randolph followed Josh Langford on twitter. I looked at who he was following and it was all Alabama stuff. Makes me think it's a fake.

I wonder if there's any chance we offer Trey Mourning? He averaged 34 points a game this year I read, but plays in the lowest classification in Florida I think. He's taking an official visit to Florida this weekend.

Oldsmar Christian senior 6-7 forward Jeff Garrett picked up an offer from University of Alabama yesterday, per his coach.

Both Garrett and Davis don't really seem like the bangers we need down low. I'm confused by what Grant is trying to do, but the crystal ball people are predicting Garrett to Bama with this offer. Mitchell is trying to recruit Davis pretty hard on twitter. I guess our staff would take whoever wanted to commit first?

I don't really care about having a banger, I want someone who just is relentless on the boards and Davis looks like he could be that guy. Not sure how I feel about the Garrett offer. Seems like a desperation offer. He probably just wants to make sure he has a full roster.

247sports actually has Garrett ranked 150th. If I went by any 1 recruiting site rankings I'd go by their's. Garrett's offers are lackluster though.

Here's some Garrett highlights

Looks very athletic and possibly can shoot (can never tell that from highlights). Looks way too thin to be effective down low next year and doesn't look like he's quite skilled enough for wing player. Poor man's Pollard?

Asked Meyer about him and he linked me to this paragraph he had on him in an article he made a year ago.

quote:

Jeff Garrett (2014, Alabama Challenge) - A 6-7 athletic small forward, Garrett played a pivotal role in handing the Houston Hoops their first loss in the EYBL series. With star player Devin Booker out most of the first half in foul trouble, Garrett hit big baskets from three and inside the arc. He also defended and rebounded at a high level throughout the game.

This JUCO scout agreed with Jerry on his evaluation:

quote:

@JucoRecruiting: @BamaBBallGuy saw Jeff Garrett multiple times this year. Agree with Jerry about versatility/athletic ability/ranking.

Josh Langford on twitter

The guy who made the Langford account follows me. He tweeted me trying to defend the Langford account and then mistakenly continued the convo on the new bball account and immediately deleted the tweet and sent it with his actual twitter account.

Is it that stutts kid? If so, that's who I've thought it was the whole time. Every account he's created has the same bought spam followers. It's pretty sad.

As for Garrett against Davis, I'd much rather Davis just going off the coaches that are flocking to Davis. You don't see that seem thing happening with Garrett. I'll take either though just because it doesn't hurt having another tall, athletic body on the roster.

It's a joint account I believe. I think they're just kids wanting their opinion to be respected. I think I've convinced them to take it down though.

I usually go by offers as well, and Davis is racking them up. I do respect Meyer's opinion though, so he's convinced me to be OK with the Garrett offer.

If we don't land Davis, it won't be because Mitchell didn't try hard enough.

Vandy just landed a 6'6 forward. I wonder how that affects them with Davis?

@JucoRecruiting: Alabama is the latest school to get involved with JJ Nganga (6-10/C/2014) of Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa

I'd love to have a big kid but he seems like a reach. He's averaging only 6 points and 5 rebounds a game.

The Nganga kid is built like a tank. Those numbers certainly aren't impressive, but to be fair that's off of 19 minutes in a game. I'd still much rather have Davis.

Weird that he went 5/13 from 3. Not bad at all for a guy that looks like a banger.

How is the Bruce Pearl hire going to affect our recruiting? Do you guys think we will lose anyone from this class?
