How many guards average 9.7 boards per game? Powell you can maybe make an argument for because he faces up a lot, but claiming that Holloway isn't a big just makes you look like an idiot.

Just admit you were wrong about the amount of quality post players in the SEC and move on.

Im not wrong its your opinion. What is Holloway a back to the basket guy? LOL. So if the game is on the line you throw the ball down to your big Holloway. OK your the idiot. Like I said I will give you Stokes and JOB. Maybe Buckner because he plays hard.

It's not an opinion if it's a fact.

Every. Single. Time.

So the distinction as inside or perimeter player is based upon effort?

When I say a big man I mean someone who controls the paint. On ball defense, off ball defense, rebounding, post up offense. Not a slashing forward who can rebound. What could Hollaway do with a skilled 7 footer? Well he is a 6'6 big man I guess he would throw the 7 footers shite in the stands. Can he guard a true center? So like I said it is your opinion. How many 6'6 mig man are in the NBA making a difference right now? Buckner will make a roster before he does.

Again, it's not an opinion if it's a fact. Your concept of what makes a post player is just fricking wrong. Defense and rebounding are about positioning and effort, not height. How many highly skilled 7" guys are there in college right now? Probably about 5 or 6. Cauley-Stein, Len, Olynyk or however you spell it, Dieng, and Withey are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head. You claim there aren't many good bigs and then act like a guy who is a little on the short side can't be considered an inside force because he can't stop a 7" lottery pick. First of all, you might have to face a player like that a couple of times a year. Secondly, there aren't many players in college basketball in general who can stop an offensively skilled 7 footer.

Like bona fide said, if you put Holloway or Powell on this team, we make the NCAAT. Same goes for a guy like Oriakhi or Bowers even though it's apparently lame to mention them because they haven't been playing in a real basketball conference like the SEC for long enough. Our post recruiting has been a joke and there is no excuse for it. We went into this season with 3 mediocre bigs, none of whom possess a complete game. If one of Taylor and Hale don't pan out, we are pretty much fricked. It really isn't that hard to find a couple of guys like Chris Hines who can rebound and get 6 or 8 points every night from cheap tip ins.

Can you name a player in college that can handle a skilled 7 footer?
How many 7 footers in the SEC are actually skilled?

I probably should have just said frick it 5 posts before I did.

I think it started out as a criticism of Grant's inability to recruit a full roster, particularly competent frontcourt players, and morphed into a debate as to whether or not Crean took over a shittier situation than Grant and whether or not Murphy Holloway is actually a post player. So yeah....I definitely should have just walked away instead of arguing over that.

@JonRothstein: Expect Minnesota AD Norwood Teague to target Alabama's Anthony Grant for the Gophers head coaching vacancy. Teague hired Grant at VCU.

The media keeps hyping Grant to Minnesota.

I also learned from all the Minnesota fans saying dear god no, we play at a slower pace than Wisconsin. Terrible.

I would really be surprised if Grant left, but i've been wrong many times before.

Well, we do. We had to have been in the 300s in pace rankings. If you want to play that slow, you need to be great in your half court offense. We suck at half court offense.

I remember saying Grant should let our players just play and he controls the team too much. Seen him push players in the direction he wants them to run. They wont shoot open shots or anything. I want to give Grant the benefit of the doubt but this is like the 3rd and 4th of our players to say something. Not like they were any good anyway but still.

I wonder if Grant will go after Pearson. Like I told Bird and Robot, I'd like for Grant to make a run at Yanni Hufnagel but no way that'll happen. I bet he just promotes Pettway though and nothing changes.

Not sure I'd want Pearson, but it might be hard for Grant to get Pearson now anyways. If I remember correctly, he wanted a spot on the staff and Grant denied his arse. Might be some hard feelings there. Yanni Hufnagel has a name that has to succeed. If he can recruit and help even if just a little with the offense, I'd love the hire.

I'd be somewhat surprised if Grant promoted Pettway. 2 assistant coaches specializing in guard play doesn't really make sense. My guess is he hires someone Hipsher recommends to take his place.
