So Goff got into trouble and got wins revoked at another school, and now he's already trying to break an NCAA rule at Alabama. That's just great. Can we please fire him now?

That's against NCAA rules. You can't revoke a scholarship based on performance. You called it BamaFan Goof is a major dumbass.

I hope he gets fired. Embarrassing screw up then he doesn't even have the balls to talk to the local media. What a joke.

I wonder how the Byrne and Goff meeting went?

I'm embarrassed to say I was excited about him. Fire this guy and let's move on.

It seems like 99% of our fanbase wants him gone. Hopefully Byrne listens to us

There was a point the thread title said Goff was the greatest coach in Bama. Obviously was a joke because he was 2-0 at that point, but it still represents how big of a shift happened through the season.

Can we hire Mervyl Melendez now?

He was my favorite candidate last offseason.

I just read somewhere else, that Goff will be gone by June 1st with cause. Let's hope Byrne is searching for a coach as we speak.

with cause means he broke NCAA rules or something akin to this. I doubt he is fired with cause. Fired maybe but not with cause

That's the thing, he broke rules today, or at least tried. Byrne had to step in.

what NCAA rules did he breaking by yanking schollies. You cant fire for show cause for him being stupid or making HC type decisions that others don't like. I don't care one way if they fire or keep him, but the show cause BS is BS. They will owe him the buyout of his contract

just read the article but since he was told by our AD that he could not revoke them and they are now not revoked he did not break NCAA rules. I still don't see how he can be fired for show cause.

Here's what the NCAA rules say:

quote:

According to NCAA bylaw 15.3.5.2, institutions cannot revoke or reduce a scholarship because of an athlete’s ability, performance, physical or mental condition.

According to NCAA bylaw 15.3.4.3.1, an institution may not set forth an athletically related condition that would permit the institution to reduce or cancel a scholarship if the conditions are not satisfied.

The Tuscaloosa News ran that article for a reason today. I've never seen them straight up call out a coach at the University for breaking a rule.

We don't know what all he's done behind the scenes. He may have broken more rules for all we know. If he had all his wins vacated at another school, and then almost breaks another rule in year 1 at Bama, he's a careless coach.
