That doesn't mean this is an auto sweep though

Of course not, we have a lot more to prove before anything is an "auto sweep" for us. I'd still be happy with 2 of 3 at this point to keep building this momentum.

Any idea who the projected SPs are this weekend?

No idea, but I'm sure it'll be the same cast of characters. I'd really like to see Guilbeau given an opportunity to be worked into the weekend roatation before SEC play starts.

It's going to be interesting to see how Gaspard tweaks the lineup to get ready for SEC play.

So, through 8 games, what are y'alls thoughts? Poor competition? Or are we significantly better than last year? I'm cautiously optimistic.

We're definately better than last year, and certainly should make it to the SECt at the very least. I'm optimistic for a regional berth though. Competition hasn't been great, but FAU, USM, and even Samford are all quality teams who aren't "Sisters of the Poor" either.

USM is a pretty strong team this year, would have loved to play a 3 game series with them.

Pitching matchups for this weekend against Tulane:

Friday
Charley Sullivan, SR, 0-0 2.89 ERA
Tony Rizzotti, SO, 1-1 1.20 ERA

Saturday
Jon Keller, SO, 2-0 2.70 ERA
Alex Byo, SR, 0-1 1.35 ERA

Sunday
Spencer Turnbull, SO, 0-1 3.72 ERA
TBA

Going to be horrible weather for baseball, but hopefully there's a decent turnout at the Joe this weekend.

I'm hoping I'll finally make it up there for some of the Tennessee series in a couple weeks.

Yeah, these last five games haven't been pretty, but we had managed 4 wins. If someone would have said our starting pitcher would have 12Ks and 1 BB, would you believe we're losing 4-0??

ETA: I know 4 runs isn't bad, but dang, poor offense sure offsets it

Well Sullivan gave up ten hits too, without having seen the game it seems like he was in the strike zone too much tonight, as strange as it sounds. Another strong relief effort though. I'll beat my dead horse and say again that we really need to give Guilbeau a chance to be a weekend starter. Have to think the coaches know more than I though

if you add 10 hits then, like you said he in the strike zone too much!

We are down 3-1 in the 7th.The umpires have made the strike zone about 4 feet wide. And again we are striking everybody out but still are behind.

We scored two runs today in the loss, that's an improvement from being shutout
