So apparently Cooper Bateman was practicing with the WRs today. WTF is wrong with our qb evaluation?

yeah that's pretty strange. i dont think it's a permanent move. Bateman showed at A-day last year that he has the arm to play QB. i think the work at WR might just be to make him more familiar with the routes or what the receivers are facing. I havent seen or heard anything that makes me believe the coaches dont think he can play the QB position.

That isn't a thing. I have never seen that done on the college or professional level.

If they're moving him there it's due to them evaluating that he isn't competing well enough at his primary position.

On another note, Reier from BOL said that Barnett was slinging it out there, and his deep ball was a lot better than expected.

Jesus Christ. He was easily the best QB on the field last A-day.

So basically Bateman is taking the spot of Cam Sims.

after 1 week?

i dont know what they are doing. but it doesnt make a lot of sense to move him to WR at this point. But if they are, wouldnt that suggest that one of the underclassmen QBs is killing it?

They switch players each year around this time then they end up right back where they started. Maybe its just to keep him busy.

His first name starts with a "B" and rhymes with RAKE

Could be Cornwell. With a year under his belt, I bet he has been tearing it up.

Dashawn Hand had grown man strength before he got out of pampers. As a junior he obliterated everyone at a rivals event in the push-up competition. When he gets his opportunity he's going to be a monster. He's built like Courtney Upshaw with longer arms and more strength.

BB is probably doing well, but I'm thinking that if there is anything to it, its David Cornwell.

Bateman at WR tells you two things...with Cam Sims out...we are a little thin there and Bateman may have the athleticism and hands to be a decent possession type guy there.

Secondly, it tells you the coaches like what they see from the other 4 QB's enough to move a guy away from that position. I really think Coker/Cornwell could both lead us to a special season this year and Morris and BB would both be solid back-up options as well. BB needs a year to learn the system, but from the sounds of it...he could be a special player for us in the future.

I think that's is all it is. The coaches like to experiment a little in the spring. One spring they had Julio working a little at Safety and we would up playing him there on a couple Hail Mary's. Probably similar situation with Bateman. Not giving up on him at QB but looking for a way to maybe get him on the field this season.

yeah, bateman is 6'3 and runs a respectable 40 and is athletic. if they feel comfortable with the rest of the qbs, why not try him in a few places. if nothing else it could be in preparation for a trick play

from what limited info has been released it looks like he is close to 100% if i remember correctly from one of sabans pressers he is doing all the drills and moves, but is still working up intensity and duration. he should be 100% by fall for sure
