Grant's time is running short. If we keep him past this year, I refuse to support the program next year. I support the programs at Alabama that are devoted to success. Keeping Grant is a commitment to mediocrity.
Some people say that Grant still has a chance to be retained due to the buyout and the fact that we aren't "horrific" this year. I just can't imagine keeping him another year if we finish with the typical "just off the bubble" record. He should've been fired last year and has done nothing to keep his job for next year. If he's retained, the apathy for the 2015-16 basketball season could be off the charts. Battle should be fired for that if it happens that way.

I did not watch any of the game but did switch over and look at the score during commercial breaks of what I was watching. it did not seem like the players had any fire in them late. I do recall missing 3 of 6 free throws down the stretch and those were by our top FT shooting guys.

We've seen how well the offense can be in the Arkansas game a few weeks ago when we're hitting 3's. We were 5 for 27 last night. Why do we struggle so much from beyond the arc?
We've shot a lot more 3s this year than in the past. I wonder if that is a result of a new coaching stategy.
What I don't get is the number of times we pass up on a good shot, with a shot fake and a dribble at the defender who is closing out on the shot fake. Why not just take the first good look?

I thought the effort was good last night. Lots of players working very hard to cut off passes, rebound loose balls etc etc. . .
Really Florida at home may be the only SEC game where I would criticize that.
What was bad was simply the shooting. . . from 3s to shots in the paint. They played well enough to win comfortably if hitting even the already meager 30% of 3s they have for the season.
They even did a fairly decent job of finding some players in the paint even with Miss St packing the defense back. The difference in the game really when Alabama made the little run in the 2nd half.
The last minute meltdown did give me a horrible flashback of the Wichita St game but I don't think it was lack of effort as much as Miss St doing a good job of overloading the picks and covering Coleman and Randolf and Cooper (who otherwise played a fine game) forcing passes instead of throwing a longer inbounds pass (though there may not have been pickers moving into space for that).

Has more to do with not having a legitimate inside threat. Taylor isn't there yet offensively, and may never be there. Kessens isn't built to bang inside all game, though he has some nice moves and knows how to get it in the basket.

Yeah, I agree with the post above that much of it is simply that we're handcuffed by not having a legit, consistent scoring threat in the paint.
I agree that we pass up a lot of open looks from behind the arc just to settle for a worse one late in the clock. I guess the positive is that there is some recognition/coaching/desire to work the ball for a higher percentage shot but it is certainly frustrating how often, say, an open look for Cooper would have been better than what we ultimately get.
I would like to see Randolph (Copper as well) push the issue more by driving and also taking pull-up jumpers a bit earlier in the clock just to not let the defense get so settled. He's pretty effective when doing so but it's too often late in games where we desperately need a basket or too late in the shot clock.
We did a better job of finding guys open in the lane off screens last night and getting penetration and then dishing.
On a positive note, Hale has been a LOT stronger finishing near the basket recently (in addition to looking more determined in general). Which is welcome since the amount of times we've worked good sets and then missed or had the point blank jumper blocked haven't always made that a higher percentage play than a contested three pointer.

I second the notion if we can't fire Grant after this year then we should fire Battle. Either he has no balls, no power, or no clue if grant gets another year. And if any of those are true, then that is a legitimate reason to find another AD.

it could be that BB is not able or allowed to make the decision alone.

If we fire bill battle, I want Tom jurich of UL.
With that said, we need to put feelers out and see if we can hire a big dog as grants replacement.

If we don't make a change, I'm gonna have to walk away from Bama basketball for awhile. Not healthy to care about something this much with an apathetic administration making decisions.

It's extremely disappointing.
I just sat on my couch and watched Bama whither away to a pathetic Vanderbilt team at home, and I didn't give two shits about it.
I used to carry a pocket schedule with me and mark W's and L's and think about what important games were upcoming. Now, I don't even know, nor care who they play next.

Yep. I use to know all the teams that were in the top 25 and pull against those ranked ahead of us so we'd move up. Our awful program is killing my interest in my favorite sport.

No guys, you don't understand, we just need to give Grant more time!
Posted on 2/14/15 at 9:31 pm to alabamabuckeye
I honestly think if we keep saying that, even obviously in jest, just gives our disinterested administration reason not to act.
Posted on 2/14/15 at 9:34 pm to East Coast Band
Grant should've went the Juco route and got some guys who he knew could play. He dead now and he knows it you can see it on his face.

I doubt the AD seriously listen to us, for basketball or otherwise.
