The Toronto Maple Leafs announced the hiring of former Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock on Wednesday afternoon. Per ESPN:

Babcock cashed in on his status as the most coveted hire in hockey. According to multiple reports, he received an eight-year deal that is worth a whopping $50 million. That contract would make Babcock the highest-paid coach in the NHL.
Babcock is expected to be introduced as the team new head coach at a press conference on Thursday.

He coached the Red Wings from 2005-2015.
