ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit Dabo Swinney Asked If He'll Ever Replace Nick Saban At
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports
ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit asked Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney this week if he would one day go back to his alma matter and replace Nick Saban as Alabama's head coach, per AL.com...
quote:

“First of all, anybody that would even say that or suggest that, I’m humbled by that and certainly appreciate that anybody would even think that way, that they would want me to be a candidate for a job like Alabama. But that’s just kind of the fandom. People just naturally make connections and things like that and they never really consider all factors. I’ve always said ‘you never say never,’ because you have no idea what the dynamics are going to be. Ten years from now, Alabama may call me and want me to come to Alabama, and the Clemson people may hate me at that point. I don’t know. I may have a terrible president or a terrible AD. There’s dynamics that can change. I’m always just focused on being great where I’m at and blooming where I’m planted.
You think this will ever happen?

Nice to have a NC winning coach in line to take over after your current NC winning coach leaves

Thank you Lawrence Leo for this. I'm serious man. I only watch live NCAA sports on espn and I avoid all news stations. I get all my info from TD now. And I'd be a happy bassid to see Dabo come back home.

Refreshing to hear an honest answer. Make no mistake, when Saban retires (likely within 1 - 4 years), Bama is coming after Dabo, Jimbo, or Kirby (if he's successful/had enough time to be successful at UGA), and their checkbook is going to be open.

Kirby doesnt take it, Georgia is his Alma Mater and he will have it rolling. Jimbo, possibly, it would make sense, but Florida State is a great job. Dabo makes the most sense because he is an alum.
