Brent Venables has one good agent. Not only is his Oklahoma contract fully guaranteed, he only needs to win seven games a year to walk away with a bonus...
quote:

Oklahoma coach Brent Venables’ performance bonuses include a trigger for winning seven regular-season football games and playing in a bowl game, according to his contract of employment released to the Tulsa World late Friday afternoon.

The document was released via an open records request to the university.

Venables has several performance bonuses on top of his $7 million guaranteed income, including a $25,000 payment if the Sooners play in a non-College Football Playoff bowl and claim seven regular-season victories.

They lost a lot of key positions to the transfer portal. Going to take time to get the new players up to speed. They are not a Bama with infinite depth.

Not really surprising terms, so the agent probably didn't have much to do. Venables was a hot commodity, and OU needed someone like him to make their fans happy. If he'll be a bust eventually or not, is a different story.

I've been wondering for years why this guy wasn't a HC yet, with all the bad-arse defenses he's had. This is surprising to me what's happening at OK, thought that that would be the perfect place for him.

They'll be in Aggie's shoes before long.
