This needs to happen. We have enough $s!
Unless, of course, there is some law about it.
But really if the Aubs can keep our national bird, why can't we have an elephant.

Because without a vet school it would be extremely costly to keep a staff on to care for it. And the habitat would cost millions to build and millions more to keep up.

That's really a selfish and goofy idea.

I hate live animal mascots.
We aren't three year olds going to the circus.

I'd be down if there was a rule in place that it gets to shite in the visitor's locker room before every game and right before halftime.

Nah maybe we could rent one on gamedays from Bham Zoo but that would get pricey. Or we could have a habitat for an elephant maybe like lsu does.
Neither is likely to never happen but would be cool

It would be fine until the elephant got pissed and went HAM into the crowds.

Yeah, no. Trust me, this plan never works out like you'd think. Mike cant be hella bothered with even going to the games anymore.

Elephants are pack animals and can die if they are alone, so unless we bring more than one (which can get pricey) it will never happen. And unless we sedate it like Texas does for Bevo the poor elephant will go into the stands the first time it hears a loud noise.

CapGrad had the best response that I've ever heard to this subject. We don't have a vet school. I'm pretty sure LSU does, and I know that UF does. If we did, I'd be all for an elephant habitat. But we aren't just gonna put one in a cage on campus.
The only possible thing I could understand would be too being one to campus for a special event, like homecoming, but not bring him into the stadium. And it would probably have to be a trained animal actor or circus elephant.
Although, as a consolation, I bet the op could find a couple frat houses, where he can do the baby elephant walk. That'll probably be as close as he'll get to his wish.

Pretty sure we used to do that. My grandfather graduated in '49 and said they used to have elephants during the parade.

To me, elephants are the kind of creatures that belong in the wild, or at worst in some kind of enclosure that replicates their natural habitat, with tons of space and the rest of their family.

He means the bald eagle...even though AU uses a golden eagle. How is that hard to get?
