I won't act like I have a complete understanding of that position, but it seems like a decent hire. He was a graduate assistant at UA, correct? Held a similar job at Miss State, and was assistant head coach at UAB most recently.

I wish we could find a place for Bill Clark. Dude has "it," whatever it is.

People keep saying something Along those lines. If the guy has "it" why is he still unemployed?

I know nothing about him other than a stellar career as a HS coach, and his two years as a college HC. But my perception is that some of the "it" is UAB sympathy. If this guy was in Arizona or Kansas and lost his job, and we hired him, would we all be asking WTF? Good question...why is he still unemployed?

Severance pay isn't employment.

He got paid regardless. I graduated from the HS he turned from a doormat into a national power so I got to see it first hand.

Don't know much about Wright but I'm sure he'll do a good job.

No, it isn't "regardless". He is, and continues to be, in fact, unemployed. Not retired. Unemployed. The man is looking for a coaching job, as we speak. and no one has hired him. Not. One. School. So he turned a high school program into a powerhouse. Big whoop. That has obviously resonated with college ADs all over the country.

A big part of it is he wants to remain a head coach I do believe. The man undoubtedly had offers.

So all he's done is turn a HS program into a powerhouse? Where have you been the last few years?

You do realize that UAB was bowl eligible in ONE year, right? From one of the worst teams in FBS to bowl eligible. That's not bad coaching my friend.

And her know he's a good coach. So since he didn't get an offer he wanted. He's gonna sit back, probably travel with his family a bit, and networking with big 5 AD's to get a gig somewhere for 2016.
