It's 3 games. A playoff would have more.

It's a 3 game playoff. Don't be mad cuz your team won't be attending.

Does it really matter what Ole Miss fans want to call it? That's like asking Auburn fans their opinion of the Final Four.

They used to call it a plus 1. It's not a playoff.

No.

A Plus 1 would be 8 teams in the 4 BCS bowls where the alleged 8 best teams are all matched up together, they play, and a more clear #1 and #2 emerge for a separate National Championship game.

Playoff: a series of contests played to determine the winner of a championship, as between the leading teams in different divisions or leagues.

It is a playoff. You are wrong. This thread is pointless.

As long as they do it by best teams and not by conference champions I don't care what they call it.

Ultimately, this is very subjective.

In the NFL, all playoff spots are earned.( if necessary, by application of predetermined tiebreakers)

In CFB, 13 people are going to pick the teams they think are the best. I would be surprised if positive/negative bias for/against certain teams did not exist in this process.

I prefer the NFL model as far as determining postseason participation.

Down the road, when they go to 8, it will be power 5 champs, highest ranked non-power 5, and 2 at large.

But the NFL has parity and teams that are decently close to being even and while there are some years where teams get a somewhat easier path, it's very minimal.

In CFB, the differences in strength of schedule between teams varies greatly, especially when it comes to in conference games.

With fewer teams and a closer group I'd prefer the NFL model. But applying that to college football would really mess things up. It would be better for your team to be in the B1G instead of the SEC.

Better even would be all conference champs included in FBS with top 5 rated other teams included as at large. Let BCS formula decide the seeds and better seed hosts until semis. This would be 16 teams.
