....hype and/or support from the USCe fans and media as Mason has gotten from ours? I'm sure they were confident going into this. Just goes to show how severe of a drop off you can have based on change at one position. We could be in store for the same thing (maybe not against Clemson).

At least our D HAS to be better than USCe's.

More. Their fans were hyping him like they wouldn't miss a beat from Shaw.

Well, I think our D is better than aTm's, which is encouraging.

This. Thompson has actually had some quality experience and has shown some promise.

Not tonight, though.

Let's hope he continues to digress.

Unless you just like being pessimistic.

This was the one thing I clinged to among all the USC hype. I knew this would come back to bite them.

In 2013 we had our entire OL coming back from the season before, we thought everyone was going to get stronger and meaner, blah.

Same year, Tennessee had their entire line coming back, all the hype, and they sucked too.

I'm not convinced having all starters returning on OL is necessarily a good thing, sometimes there is addition by subtraction.

We are seeing it with USC now.

USC still hasn't come to grips with the fact that their D hasn't been the same since Ellis Johnson left.....and that they really don't have the playmakers that they've had on previous teams. No Shaw, Clowney, Lattimore....that big arse receiver that I can't remember right now....

True, except Kenny Hill was the #4 QB in the country when he was recruited. I realize that doesn't necessarily mean a thing, but I think there's some merit to it when a guy is that high up. Mason and Thompson weren't close (Thompson was a 2-star).

Not saying your point isn't valid.

The OP is way off the mark. With Mason UGA has gained a clutch gene combined with accuracy.

I will not miss Murray's tipped passes, interceptions and fumbles in big games.

This is the dawn of a great era.

Yeah but Mason's arm isn't as strong as Murray's and I think Murray just has an above average arm.

What do you base this on?

Did you sneak your armstrength-o-meter into G-day?

I think we all knew he was over hyped when they had to bring in an injured shaw to win in overtime last year. The guy just couldn't get the job done.

His eyes reeked fear right from the start, even the women noticed it. Fear spreads disease, disease spreads chaos, which is what ya got.

Not really. Most folks I saw talking about DT always said at the start "He's no Shaw..."

I knew we would regress at QB and have some third downs that aren't converted that we would have with Shaw, but Thompson needs to get his shite together quick because that was ridiculous.

He looked on point for a few throws, but all the bad decisions like running OoB four yards behind the LoS and that god awful interception throw.

As far as the defense, we all knew the secondary would be bad. I will admit I thought the Dline would be a lot better than they were. We certainly have a lot of questions that need to be answered.
