I knew he coached in the NBA but didn't know he coached for 14 years in the NBA

I'm a little surprised that it is an on the court coaching job but if he is good enough for Pearl he is good enough for me. Also Patrick Beilein(current HC of West Virginia Wesleyan and son of Michigan HC John Beilein) is on campus today interviewing.

He played 14 and coached 8 in the NBA.

Coaching years

1 with Cavs
2 With Pacers
1 with Kings
4 with Lakers

Per Wiki

Remember when you see something like 2000-2001 it means 1 season because 1 basketball season goes through parts of 2 calendar years.

I was going off this:

quote:

Person has 14 years of experience as an NBA assistant, most recently with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2009-13. He was an assistant coach for Jeonju KCC Egis in the Korean Basketball League this past season.

I have not seen it confirmed anywhere yet that CCP will be one of the 3 full time on floor assistants that can recruit. There are other coaches on the floor but only 3 can be full time in that position and recruit. CTJ is 1 so far.

Ahh. Bryan was mistaken there. Still glad he's back though.

To a new basketball fan this makes absolutely no sense to me

I'm going by what austudent22 posted on the ITAT basketball board.

quote:

On the court. I thought his office looked pretty big for a student assistant like some people were reporting last week. So that leaves 1 more slot on the floor and 1, perhaps 2, off the court.

There is a HC and 3 assistant coaches that can be on the floor during the game and recruit off of campus. The other coaches are considered support staff and can only help during practice and recruit on campus. Other than the number of assistants it isn't much different than football.

Bruce Pearl in his quotes mentions Chuck recruiting. I'm going by that

Yeah this makes it sound like he's able to recruit

Fixed Kobe's shot in 2010 after he broke his index finger. Probably Kobe's best shooting playoffs in his career.

Of course that asshat Jim Buss let him go after hiring Mike Antoni.

Not sure how true this is, but apparently part of the holdup with the university hiring him was his lack of a college degree.

BM says Pearson has been working on his degree and will continue to pursue it. In the meantime though he will have no limitations as an assistance coach

FWIW BM said it was not an issue here but would be if he were to want to be a coach at other colleges someday.

Oh and thanks for clearing things up Marshall.

It's helpful but a degree is not required to coach at Auburn. The holdup was due HR's paperwork.

Per al.com, Butch Pierre is a possibility for the final on the floor spot. He was an assistant at LSU for many years and is currently on staff at Ok St. He has a very strong recruiting background.
