Not sure how reliable this guy is, but TIFWIW.

quote:

Through four practices, second-year OL coach Mario Cristobal is really going to face a challenge and truly earn his money at Alabama. The first five has been the same through four practices as Shepherd is an anchor at right tackle, and Ryan Kelly is entrenched at center. Arie Kouandjio has thus far been at left guard with redshirt sophomore Alphonse “Shank” Taylor at right guard and former junior college transfer Leon Brown at left tackle.

This has raised some eyebrows because most had pegged sophomore Grant Hill to be moved inside to guard. The Huntsville native has continued to play right tackle with the twos and inside word is that the 6’6 308-pounder has struggled thus far. The senior Brown started at right guard for the injured Anthony Steen in the Sugar Bowl and performed pretty well. But his move to left tackle, where he practiced and played for parts of his first season in 2013, was necessary because true freshman early enrollee Cameron Robinson has had a rough transition from High School to SEC football. The Monroe, Louisiana, native was signed as the consensus top-ranked offensive tackle in the country, with the thought process that he could have an Andre Smith-type impact as a freshman and start from day one at left tackle. He has run third-team thus far through four practices and faces an uphill climb this spring to push into the two-deep.

Former tight end Brandon Greene (redshirt sophomore) has moved back to left tackle and is running with the twos, while the back-up left guard is redshirt junior Isaac Luatua. Redshirt freshman Brandon Hill has seen time with the twos at right guard but redshirt freshman Bradley Bozeman has seen reps there in the last couple of practices as Hill has been a little banged up. Bozeman and Grant Hill have also spent time at center with junior walk-on Paul Waldrop (twos) also getting reps with the centers behind Kelly.

O-Line will be fine.

D-L is going to be beast mode this year and may be causing the O L some early problems but we should gel by September.

I don't know that the OL will be fine but it sounds like he's deducing CRob is struggling because he's been running 3rd string through the first 4 practices which is a ridiculous conclusion to make.

Yep, actually this sounds like something we heard about 2 years ago in spring practice 2012, that Barrett was having trouble with snapping and the OL wasn't coming together. Its one week of spring practice. I have no idea how the the OL will play this fall, but neither does this guy.

MF This^^^^

He just got on Campus and deserves a bit of a pass making the hard as hell transition as a TF. Grant Hill will be better inside and he will eventually make the move inside just not enough depth at the OTs. Greene is gonna be a good RT also.

One of the starters isn't even on campus yet. Jackson is an absolute monster.

It's always depressing in the spring. Fact is, Saban likes where the team is at right now. The best players will play. Despite a "disappointing" 11-win season, I still put my faith and trust in Nick Saban.

The great thing here is it is spring practice. We ain't playing LSU or Auburn tomorrow. We have plenty of time to improve.

However, the relative inexperience on the OL and DL could lead to some growing pains this year. I really feel like we are shaping up to be really great in 2015. I will not have high expectations for this year. If we are a great team, I will really enjoy it. Sometimes it is stressful to be undefeated. If it happens this year and we are undefeated heading into LSU, then we can talk. I, for one, am going to enjoy this team and not place high expectations on them.

We return 3 starters on the OL and everyone coming back on the DL had significant playing time.

If Dominick Jackson moves to LT and Leon Brown moves to RG, that might be a more solid line.

I think we'd get more out of Dom if he were on the right side of the line. I still maintain that C-Rob has the most potential at LT, and going ahead and playing him there this year will only help for the next two years.

We have around 45 returning starts on the OL. That will place us near the bottom in the SEC if not the country. The only returning starter on the DL is Ivory. Many hope he gets beat out. That is overall inexperience on the OL/DL. I think we have better odds in 2015.

2015 does indeed look like our year, but we'll still make a run this year.

2nd yr OL coach trying to push these guys especially after last years' struggles seem to all point to the OL on offense. He has something to prove and with Saban making sure the expectations are high and must be met they are going to ride the OL guys hard until they show up ready to compete in the 1st game.

I doubt we here a lot of positive on the OL until the 1st game. They will get pushed harder than any group all the way through fall camp. They will be fine.

robinson and allen/tomlinson are an upgrade to stinson and pagan. if reed beats out ivory thats fine with me. DL will be better this year than last, with lots of good depth

Lost in the discussion of our OL is the question...who the hell is DrewD and why are any fricks given regarding his opinion?

Wake me up when the guy starts writing for someone who actually prints his last name in the by-line.

I agree that we will be better than last year with lots of quality depth on the DL. Is it going to be championship level good? I think when Allen and A Shawn are juniors (2015) is when we are going to be championship level good on the DL. We have changed up our recruiting in the last two cycles. It seems as if we are looking at more faster, quick-twitch players in the front seven. Most of those guys are going to be juniors and sophomores in 2015. I feel that is when we will be ready to make a run. I hope that I am incorrect and we win by 50 every game. However with an overall lack of experience in the OL/DL (not to mention a new QB) we are still probably a year away from being a championship team. That is why I am going to enjoy this team and hope they do great. I don't expect it.
