wl record at Florida, was 5-8 against Bowden, etc...). The SEC is considered the strongest conference in large part to Saban with his national championship wins against Texas and Oklahoma and the way he built up two different SEC programs into national powerhouses

Holy shite! Only a Bama fan would actually believe this shite. Saban's clubs have Hirt the sec conf too. Utah, UAB, ULM. Saban getting destroyed by Utah is what gave these mid majors schools a leg to stand on. The SEC was the best conference before Saban ever stepped on the LSU campus. We just didn't get the recognition we deserved.

No team has finished in the top 5 every year since Saban has been at bama.

UF twice.
Arky once.
LSU twice.
Auburn once.
UGA once.

FSU was the winningest program in the entire country while Spurrier was at UF, losing only 19 games in 12 years.

But a SEC team has finished in the top 5 in 10 out of the last 11 years.

2001- Florida, Tennessee
2002- Georgia
2003- LSU
2004- Auburn
2005- None (Saban was at Miami)
2006- Florida, LSU (Saban was at Miami)
2007- LSU, Georgia
2008- Florida
2009- Alabama, Florida
2010- Auburn
2011- Alabama, LSU, Arkansas

Since 2001, Saban's played against at least one team that finished in the top 5 in eight of the nine years he's been in the SEC. The only year he didn't play a top 5 team was in 2002 and Texas just finished outside the top 5 at #6. And the combination of all the great teams he played against ('01 Florida, '01 Tennessee, '03 Oklahoma, '04 Auburn, '07 LSU, '08 Florida, '09 Florida, '09 Texas, '10 Auburn, and '11 LSU) is a greater challenge than 1990-2000 Florida State because all of those teams were elite teams with different types of offenses, defenses, and schemes. Florida basically had to deal with two elite teams in Florida State and Tennessee and both of those schools played a pretty similar style of football.

The UAB and ULM losses came during Saban's FIRST year at LSU and Bama. Anybody who knows anything about college football knows that the first year is virtually worthless in determining how good a coach is. They're still trying to implement the system and evaluating the players in their first year.

What spurrier did at florida was amazing. Other than the cheating they weren't a very solid program and certainly weren't comparable to a miami or florida state. Spurrier kicked arse and took names.

What spurrier has done at USC is amazing. some miracle worker shite if you ask me. I'd be amazed if he wasn't the winningest coach in USC history already. That program was complete garbage and he has made them into a very good team and respected program.

Saban has gotten LSU who was a program with some history and no instate compettion for talent in a state the has the highest per capita NFL player.

Then there is alabama which according to every Bama fan i've ever heard talk is the greatest program ever and there is no question...clearly bama wins a lot of games normally with or without saban.

My vote goes to the ole ball coach.

Yeah, normally people turn to that 2007 Fiesta Bowl victory by Boise State over Oklahoma, but that had nothing to do with it.

Plus Utah had a great team and in hindsight should have played UF.

Yeah, Spurrier went 9-2 in 1990 after taking over a 7-5 squad from 1989. Although they got whipped by Tennesse, they still beat Alabama and Auburn. The only other loss was to a 10-2 Florida State team, a 45-30 loss.

I'll admit that we got frickin killed during that game. It was worse than the SECCG with UF. But, I don't really think about it unless a rival fan brings it up... events since then take the edge off.

And Saban took a 3-8 LSU team from 1999 and turned them into a 9-4 team in 2000.

I would argue no single game meant more to the SEC than Meyer's dominating 41-14 win over OSU in the 06 title game. It completely changed the perception of the league when people saw a team that looked boring and only above average all season dominate a heavy favorite like that. They saw the clear difference in talent level in the trenches and made people realize that the defensive lines of the SEC could neutralize the skill position talent of any other league.

Saban. The dominance and the rise of the SEC can be attributed to what Saban did at LSU. Prior to Saban comning to LSU, the SEC's national prominence was nothing like it is now.

This, it was pretty funny to go back on old interviews and look at the fap fest people were having for Ohio State. Buck nuts still to this day swear the game would have been different if Ted Ginn Jr. Wouldnt have gotten hurt

Spurrier.

Spurrier changed SEC football. He dominated a power-running, defensive league with a passing attack offense with highly efficent QB play, and he made it look so easy. He made the league catch up to what he was doing. He forced many SEC teams to beef up their defenses to stop his offense.

Zero from 33 - 90, 6 from 91 - 2000, pretty friggin amazing though.....just an aside.

Should've been conference champions in 84, 85, and 90, but 107 NCAA violations will do that to you.

We were actually selected by 7 polls as national champions that year. Should claim it Bama/UT style.
