LSU officially announced Wednesday night that offensive lineman Maea Teuhema has been granted his release from the program and will be transferring out of LSU.

Teuhema was suspended indefinitely Wednesday morning for a "violation of team rules," and head coach Ed Orgeron said earlier this week that the sophomore from Keller, Texas was dealing with "academic issues".

Teuhema was a two-year starter, playing both tackle and guard. He was projected to be LSU's starting right guard in 2017 and leaves the Tigers with just 11 scholarship offensive linemen on the roster.

He becomes the fifth offensive linemen to leave LSU this offseason along with Chidi Okeke, Andy Dodd, Willie Allen, and 2017 signee Seth Stewart.

Redshirt freshman Lloyd Cushenberry and sophomore Donavaughn Campbell will compete for the starting right guard spot now that Teuhema is leaving. Redshirt sophomore Adrian Magee and freshman Austin Deculus could also get reps at the guard spot throughout camp.

Here is what the current O-Line depth chart looks like with the departure of Teuhema:

Left Tackle: KJ Malone, Austin Deculus, Saahdiq Charles
Left Guard: Garrett Brumfield, Ed Ingram
Center: Will Clapp
Right Guard: Lloyd Cushenberry, Donavaughn Campbell
Right Tackle: Toby Weathersby, Jakori Savage

*Adrian Magee can play multiple positions on the offensive

Thease Samoans guys we have recruited lately seem to have anger issues and don't wanna abide by the team rules.

I coach these Samoans. They are 2 generations removed from being savages. In HS these kids are catered to because of their culture. So when they arent worshipped or when practice schedules arent organized around their time, it overwhelms them and they can't handle it. They are also very tight knit families. Everything is centered around their cultures, usually once removed from the easy access to these mini-celebrations they tend to lose sight of the bigger picture.

What a shame and a wast of talent. He could be as good as Trai Turner playing in the NFL in the near future if he knows how to behave as a student athletes and learn from his brothers mistakes. Instead, he chose to ignore his responsibility and quit the program the moment things got a little rough. Fine by us, quitter!

I'm sure there is more to the story here. But if not, this is also setting off major red flags to the NFL.

Coach Orgeron said at SEC Media Days the offseason focus (to beat Bama) has been on improving the OL. Guess that means getting Grimes' players out and getting a new batch in. Perhaps an OL coaching change is in order. Coach Mawae?

OL is going to be a problem again this year in big games...and Grimes will continue to get a free pass.

Is it me? Or is it becoming easier for players to transfer and not have to sit out. I see transfers from across the nation every time I turn on the tv. Has the NCAA lowered the transfer requirements?
