"Relatively" i.e. not at all shocked he was leaving bc I told him to find a new job, when he told me Auburn was willing to pay him I was somewhat shocked.

Miles was relatively shocked, and that is code for relieved

Shocked Auburn would take him off our hands so we wouldn't have to fire him. I think every one knew that hire wasn't meant to be permanent.

Les is just being kind. The only thing I was "shocked" about Steele leaving was the fact that another SEC school actually wanted Steele. That was shocking.

He didn't have the chest to lead this defense.

Steele had no desire to coach a defense that he knew would be on the field most of each game. Don't blame him. Hopefully DE can turn that around.

What did they expect him to say "We'l he preformed terribly so basically we told him to find a new job or he was fired"

Name even one recruit we got because of Steele which was supposed to be his biggest strength. Never seen more busted coverages and long pass plays in obvious 3rd and long than when Steele was here. How many times did you see LSU DB's throwing their hands up before or after a play because either they didn't know the call or gave up a big play because they were completely confused by "everything".

At least Steele had the integrity to actually game plan and coach the bowl game. Unlike another former LSU defensive coordinator...
