Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports
Former Ole Miss football coach Hugh Freeze resigned effectively immediately on Thursday night after school officials found a pattern of phone calls to a number associated with a female escort service.

Athletic director Ross Bjork met with the media following Freeze's resignations and said that assistant head coach Matt Luke, who also serves as co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, will be named interim head coach.

While Luke will serve as a short-term solution to keep the team together as they start fall camp and the 2017 season, many have already started suggesting candidates to take over the Ole Miss job full-time.

One of those names is former LSU coach Les Miles...

They might be smart to consider Les as AD. Integrity needs to start at the top.

If Vitter there is the same as our Vitter here, he should fire himself or edge himself to resign in front of a blind skunk with no legs that he's trying to lick his arseh@le (like David Vitter).

I think the whole ole Miss offense would ask for a transfer if that happened.

I have to say this makes sense. Les would stabilize the program and get them through the scandal and impending punishment that is coming. He is very good in this capacity. I would love to play Ole Miss with Les at the helm!

I wonder what they were doing looking at his phone records. I know Ole Miss is being hammered by the NCAA, but damn, son. That's why you get a burner.

While I didn't want Mikes as our coach anymore, I never hated him. If he goes to Ole Miss, he's Tiger Bait!!!

Ole Miss maybe the only school in a major conference who hires Miles.

All those people asking to please let Miles take over might be surprised at what type of team he puts together there at OM. Of course it wouldn't count for anything but that's when Les is at his best, when there isn't a thing to lose and he lets it fly. He just got comfortable here at LSU. I dont thing he would be the same type of coach at OM. Will still be hard to recruit against sanctions though. Good luck

If he takes the job then doesn't that release LSU from paying him a bunch of money?

he could, he should, and he would if he wasn't already getting paid significant gwop form LSU for his buyout.
user avatar

it's not about money. Even without the buyout, Les already had more money than he could ever spend. It's about what he wants to DO with his time. If coaching is what fulfills him inside, he'll coach again.

Why would he step into a mess like this when he could find a better job in a year?

CLM will never coach in D1 Football again.

What makes you think he can find a better job next year. He was passed over by several lesser schools this year. I think if offered, he would jump at the chance to continue coaching in the SEC. I just don't think he will be a candidate for the gig.

If Les would have "butt dialed" the wrong number, would have saved the university and foundation a truckload of money.
